Yeah, I gotta say, I'm really tired of the over-the-shoulder perspective. It was fun for Dead Space since you could see a monster eating you better that way. Otherwise it just breaks the immersion for me.
Last year when I saw one of the earlier trailers it looked a lot like a Mass Effect - COD copy & paste, there was more gameplay in that older trailer.
Most of this one was a slow-mo of JJ-verse Kirk running...and apparetly using him jumping again as something exciting...seeing that I need ot get rid of gift cards before I start to lose money I might buy this game for my PS3.
Does this scream Star Wars the Force Unleashed to you? Honestly the game play is very simular to that game, what now is Spock gonna chuck people in walls and Kirk is gonna cut down hoards of Stormies and get hooked up with Juno Eclipse? Come on this is not Trek, ITS WARS like the movie was, THIS IS MMO IS TREK, we have a long way before perfect but we have out foot in the door. Bottom Line i won't be playing this game.
Lockbox Lotto, asteroid mining, ship tier squabbling, and 3-D Paper Doll Uniform fashion show?
Hey, Trek is more Kirk and Spock shooting people up and you call what JJ did Trek please, JJ might as kissed the ground where Lucas stood. Gene would not be happy, and the whole excuse of the alternate timeline give me a break. I like my crew, and fact it feels somewhat Trek where that game is shoot'm up Call of Duty and we turn into the mind numbing noobs who are addicting to a war game. So if i want Call of Duty i would have bought COD.

No, the Force Unleashed looked / felt way better than this JJ-Trek game. The graphics for this ST game are horrible it seems...
How do you get TFU I or II out of this trailer anyway?
Oh, and yes, the JJ-movie was Star Wars with a Trek skin.
LucasArts did a kick butt job with TFU and i have both the First one and two and looking forward to a Trilogy soon and yes. Ive seen the game plays on all the game consoles they are simular, i feel that this Trek is nothing more than a Call of Duty with phasers and Spock. Or Mass Effect except for the sketchy cutcscenes which may or may not appear. The only thing this Trek had was Uhura, she got hotter and thats about it lol
It looks interesting and I might forgive the JJ verse a little for a Trek game that is actually a good game, unless what we've been given for many years, STO included.
Hey, Trek is more Kirk and Spock shooting people up...
Yeah, they never did much of that in the original series or movies.
...Gene would not be happy...
You mean the same guy Paramount told to take a back seat in order to let Nick Meyer make a Star Trek movie everyone wanted to see? The same guy who despised the concept behind Star Trek 6? Seriously, Gene Roddenberry was often Trek's own worst enemy. Thanks be to him for creating the concept, but much more thanks to the countless writers who actually made Star Trek a success despite Gene's rigid Utopian vision of the future.
I hate prequels, so i hate this new game too. I dont wanna know what happens in the past, thats why i ve played this mmo not swtor.....for a series ok, but not games and movies.....everytime i played games or watched movies in the past i felt like an idtiot, cause i know what happens in the "future"
Gene took flack for his commercialization of TOS. Shatner and Nimoy were allegedly concerned that he wanted a prominent IDIC logo for merchandizing revenue.
That said, I like the JJ Verse. It's not that dissimilar from TOS or even Enterprise/Voyager: more action-oriented that the philosophical aspirations of either TNG or DS9 (many of the fans here are likely raised around TNG and have a bias to the heavy-handed, overtly philosophical episodes that dominated the that period).

i don't see the problem with JJ Trek. TIme travel and parallel universes have been part of star trek since the original series. I think the new direction they took Star Trek is fantastic.
Star Trek: Invasion
Star Trek: Shattered Universe
Star Trek: Legacy
Star Trek Online
Overall objective: Go out and kill the enemy/destroy the enemy ship.
There are some games where you do a little more, but don't pretend that the way the "JJTrek" game is being done is some "new" Hollywood deconstruction of Star Trek when the underlying theme is something that's been around in Trek games since the beginning. And granted, STO isn't all seek and destroy, but guess what? Mostly, it is. I guess you should stop playing since you don't have too many missions where your captain lives a lifetime in a matter of moments and learns to play a flute every time you explore a solar system, enter and FA or do an STF.

I have to agree.
It seems the last games I really remember playing to break that mold for a significant part where:
Startrek: 25th Anniversary
Startrek: Judgement Rites
Startrek: Final Unity
I haven't played DS9: Harbinger, I believe that was still an adventure.
Strategy Games, Shooters and (MMO or C) Roleplaying Games all are mostly about killing stuff.
Only adventures were ever the game type where combat was not a focus of gameplay.
But there are no MMO Adventures.
Movie-Wise, Startrek II, Startrek III, Startrek VI, Startrek VII, Startrek VIII, Startrek IX and Startrek X involved a focus of violent conflict. It seems the "non-combat" movies were always more of a fluke then not.
On the other hand, looking at shows JJ Abrams put out, I could actually believe he'd be able to give us a non-combat-focused movie. If he wanted (and be allowed).

Ill give it a go.
Because Paramount has more "sway" (as Iman Shumpert would call it) than CBS?

Overall, this looks like a 6/10 game.

To bad it's not coming until 2013....
We've got nothing on that!

dont get me wrong i liek crysis.. i also liked the other star wars movies.. btu star trek should be star trek..
Rambo? There's nothing I've seen that reminds me of this or this.
Who said that!? I can't see anyone!!!
^ This.
Star Trek is nothing but a skin now in hollywood that is being grafted on anything that can make the most profit asap.
