I am a long time fan of Star Trek. I mean every series (TOS,TAS,TNG,DS9,VOY,ENT,movies) I also am a fan of comic books. But my favorite part of Star Trek is the Terran Empire from TOS episode Mirror Mirror. I just joined STO and HAD to get the Terran Empire costumes. Heard about this game and debated on playing it. But after Star Wars had shut down i was wondering if this would too. But I am very excited about this game. I really want to try teaming up with others on special missions or battles. I am still learning all the variations of game play.

Welcome to the Order of the Phaser. May you unravel many mysteries in our glorious Empire :)

P.s., if you need someone to show you the ropes with team missions and eventually Elite STFs, give me a ring :3

Aye , Plenty to see and Do here..
Risa is a nice social map no missions a nice veg spot Andoria also interesting but only foundry missions attached now.
We used to start out with many Patrol missions covering planet groups in Sirius Block. After the Azura Rescue and Diplomatic Orders.

So go near any Planet and a System patrol should pop up and give you a chance to practice with your new ship and gai nsome loot or xp. .

    Enjoy!

thanks everyone i did not realize how many posted a response so quickly. I have already made captain and i think the Tactical escort refit (defiant) is awesome. The klingons do not stand a chance. However the Reman and Romulan plasma torpedos are merciless...

Try to keep your distance and speed high to increase your response time before the giant torpedoes hit. Keep a beam fire at will or cannon scatter volley on reserve.

You can also keep your flight speed almost permanently, ridiculously high by having multiple copies of Attack Pattern: Omega. It gives you a significant damage increase too, and attack patterns are extremely useful in more challenging endgame content.

This is solid tactical advice offered. If all else fails , and you get whacked by a plasma torp. Grab Science skill , Hazard Emitters to clean up that Hull rotting cloud you get.Wait for VA, if your a Defiant fan.You get the Cloaking device.:)I tried to build my Defiant as close to canon(no pun intended) as possible. But you will survive in STFs with the omega set, (my escort pref) or MACO(my cruiser pref) during endgame.
