Hi
I was pondering, if one day ships can fly in any direction, rather than a limit on tilt. Ships like the defiant and escort would look and feel better if they had full free movement. I mean thats me anyway, i think it would be cooler and more realistic. Though to save myself stupidity i have noticed some peoples ships turning upside down, and i can't figure it out if you can already do that. So if you can someone let me know how, if not i would like the ability for ships, maybe just certain ones the ability to fly at all angles and directions.

This gets asked over and over. Sadly though, the devs do not seem to agree.

You would think that with nearly everyone in the community wanting this, they would make it happen, but no.

Try beam weapons. You will get a better arc making the exploits against cannon wielding ships somewhat impossible. I know it looks stupid on a defiant, but its the only real option with the current game design.

Thinking in more than 2 spacial dimensions makes the devs dizzy. :D

Except 'nearly everyone' doesn't want this. But thanks for speaking for the community.

And, on topic, 'true' 3-dimensional movement is antithetical to 99.9% of Star Trek combat as shown in canon. Star Trek combat has been shown almost always as 'tall ships in space', not 'fighter planes in space'.

What would be nice would be the ability to move straight up or straight down using our RCS thrusters, at a rather slow speed. That has been done plenty of times in the shows, and wouldn't exactly break the game.

No doubt, not to mention I would finally be able to pull off a loop, getting behind an attacker, as seen in Star Trek canon many times, albeit with shuttles, but still.

No. Nearly everyone is a true statement in this particular circumstance
    Chive on and prosper, eh?
