A team which does not consist of a group who all know each other (a Premade)
in many cases PUG will wipe the floor with premade simply because there is no "everyone remember the plan" stuff.
There are however premade "sitter" teams if you encounter one of these ABORT you can not win
they play the same mission the same way 20+ times a day
I see the term EVERYWHERE in STO these days. What is it?
Thanks
PUG is the cousin of THUG which is the cousin of BUG--who has a friend called DUG and they drink out of a MUG. If you give them a TUG they'll give you a HUG. :D

'Ok does everybody know the plan? we all go left on the count of 3.
Everyone got it? Left.
Left.
on 3.....2.....1......NOOOOOOO. LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!
You don't get it.
In PUGs, you turn right to go left.
Tell them to go to the right and everyone will go left. Subterfuge is an effective command and control technique
My other favourite on Cure is this.
I will post "Attacking R" to indicate I'm leading the shipyard assault force, so someone (usually the last man) will take care of the Kang.
The actual reply from the PUGs is EVERYONE will go attack the shipyard. This is the cue for me to guard the Kang.
Likewise if I want people to defend the Kang, I will post that "I got the Kang, assault the yards". 4 ships will activate eng battery/evasive and make a beeline for the Kang while I assault the shipyards and cubes myself.
This is how I make epic videos out of PUG runs, which for the record hit optionals every time
(unless I got a gang with totally no DPS with Mk 8 equips or something. No matter, I soloed everything on the map with my failboat cruiser).

I looked up PUG and STO and got nothing useful. I was unaware it was a general MMO term I hadn't seen it anywhere else.

Irony is, that it took you just as long to get the proper link and copy paste it, as it would have to write it yourself.

True, but the recreation is so realistic to what can happen
