I'm not going to condemn a movie based on a trailer. Some movies I had no intention of watching after seeing the trailer, then finally watched them, and thoroughly enjoyed them despite being turned off by the trailer.
Also if you recall, quite a bit of the original took place on Earth before Arnie went to mars.
Can't they come up with anything original anymore?
Getting a little tired of my youth being *******ized monthly.
Heh.
You only say that because the original still holds up OK. The day would have come when you'd be thinking 'I wish someone would remake that', just because you couldn't stand to watch the old one any more.
When I was a kid I used to love Buck Rodgers; but everything, from the visuals to the dialogue, seems pretty atrocious now. Ageing gracefully is only possible up to a certain point.
Besides, the original was a pretty mindless action flick at its core; I the remake looks like it improves on that particular element. It's going to my 'to watch' list.

Yup this seems to be the path of Hollywood now. Nothing original just a rehash of my fond childhood memories which they now ruin with BS remakes. Ooooo did that sound angry at all?
This same mindset is why I refused to see the new Star Trek movie in 09. I figured they would have screwed it up with a bunch of unnecessary Hollywood FX/CGI and mindless storyline. In that respect I stand corrected and I saw the movie for the 1st time a week ago and must say it was fairly well done. My thinking was.... Without the original cast the storyline and such would be lost.

The whole awesomeness of the orignal was the whole Mars aspect, and the mutants, and the dwarf who totally p'wned the security guys ( she was totally k*ck ***!!!)

I can't wait for Gilligan's Island in 3D.
Meh, the plot will end up being similar to a Survivor marathon and Gilligan gets axed in the first act by a pair of coconuts.
Ginger's or Mary-Ann's coconuts?
Heh.
