So, I've done a bit of writing over the past few weeks, on and off. After finishing it this morning and having a close friend go over it, I feel it's finally reached a level where I can share it.
The basic premise behind this story is that the Federation has returned to an era of peace with the resolution of the Dominion War and reestablishing the status quo in the Romulan Empire (Nemesis). A time of exploration and diplomacy, this story is set in 2392, a fair bit ahead of where the TNG/DS9/Voyager era left off.
It follows the U.S.S. Purity on its several year mission to further Federation interests, protect the innocent and seek out new life. So, a bit like TNG/TOS, but I'm hoping to mix it up a bit by approaching some of the darker tones set by DS9, but in the exploration side.
So, without further adieu, I present Star Trek: A New Era - Treachery:

Writing is a passion of mine, so I'm hoping to continue it as time goes on. I'm looking for constructive criticism and advice. Anything you fine folks can suggest is welcome, as I've been told my writing isn't the best before, and I agree.
And for those of you burnt out on the whole Bajor/Dominion theme, don't worry. The next several short stories will not focus on that.
