I've been getting my city building fix from Cities XL 2012. I rather like it, and though I want Sim City to return, but if it isn't better than Cities XL I'm gonna stick with that instead.

I spent more time playing SimCity 2000 than probably every other game combined since then. The preview fills me with hope that they've reversed the disappointments of SC 4, and I look forward to seeing how the new game turns out.

    *wipes droll off chin*

Man, my debit card got warm just watching that. I had some of the most epic cities in Sim City 2000.

Can't wait for this to come out. I've spent countless hours playing Sim City in the past, starting with the original, and it never gets old.

Societies was an embarassment. I really hope this one brings the franchise back on track.

I thought Societies killed the franchise. I have never been happier to be wrong (as little as it happens ;)).

Dude thank you for making a thread about this as I hadn't heard yet that they were finally making a new one. I love strategy and RTS games and with Starcraft 2 being the major disappointment it is there really has been a lacking of a good quality one. Hopefully this will kick start a resurgence of Strategy/RTS games just like the slow resurgence of Space combat/exploration games.

Ahh, Sim City that brings back fond memories when I was a kid and got hooked after SC2K....great sand box game.

IDK personally I liked SC4 and it had small improvements. Sim City Societies.......NOW that was a major disappointment, if I remember correctly Will Wright stepped down after SC4 came out and someone else took over and thought Societies would carry the name. I have high hopes for Maxis. (Actually I thought they went bankrupt, haven't seen a new Sim game in awhile:p)

I think Sim City and Civilization are the only two game series I played on all my computers - from the Amiga 500 in the 1990's up to today.

The SC I liked most is for sure SC4. Mostly because of the with the regions increased worldspace.

I'm mostly looking forward to the introduction of non-linear streets. I hope it also includes the modability of SC4.

I wonder if we'll be able to import our landscape files from simcity 4. I'm still hanging on to those; spent so much time on them. Hope so, though I doubt it.
