It involves the server coming off line for two hours. You account will be safe waiting for you when the game servers come back online. The only thing you'll notice is you can't play STO for two hours.

In other Words, you bringing the Server down for 2 hours. Why you calling it "Restart" then?
    ...
Well maybe "Downtime" sound so Mainstream... :D

Restart = Reboot of the shards to clear out the cache and such
Downtime = turn them off patch them up and turn them on or turn them off to fix the issue then turn them on

thats gen how I think of thier meanings lol :p

I live in the CST time zone and that means that when PST is at 12:00am I am at 2:00AM so why is the server going down at 10:00 PST???

What I don't get is that it says 12am - 2am. But if you scroll to the bottom of the forums it currently says "All times are GMT -8. The time now is 11:18 PM." Yet the server is already down... Do these guys not know how to tell time? or are the forums, the game servers, and the rest of the world all on different time zones? lol
I know I suck at math but something is off :P

Yep, they messed up the timezone conversion on UTC I figure. Server went down at 0000 hours PST, but 0000 PST <> 0800 UTC.

It's because of daylight savings time.

It should read PDT, for daylight savings time. The clocks were set ahead 1 hour a couple weeks ago. That's why it seems like it was started an hour early.

It doesn't really matter if it's daylight savings time or not, the stated UTC time was still incorrect. :)

Of course they take the shard down when I can play undesturbed for an hour and a half before work.

UTC never changes and is the same for everyone. They should just post times using that.
