How come one can spend all day in a Tactical vessel upgrading weapons repeatedly and still not be able to destroy a Romulan Warbird.
I was at 100% all sheilds at full, shooting quantum torpedos and Very Rare phaser's at a Warbird that was at 30% and no shields, for 2 hours, and still no result.
Infact every time i shot the Warbird seemed to grow from 30% to 70%.
Plus when i exploded right by its engine core it only lost 02%.
How is this Normal ???
I CAN feel your pain and try to explain it.
I was an Admiral in a Romulan fleet Starfleet Command II tester .When we moved over to SFC3..
The new Warbird was a Dreadnought ,like the Grand Enterprise-D.
I recently replayed one of the early missions in the Romulan area to save the Griffin a T3 SCI vessel
patrol faces Mogols and then a WB Boss. The WB with myTAC VA in a Prommie w JEM'HADAR space set
dual blue phaser cannons retro blue infinity phaser bank fore/aft
dual proton green cannons purple photon torp eaoverload3 torpspread3
+21phaser console +24photon Borg universal console +16 energy console. GOOD anti-tet /plasma consoles
+32kinetic-Breen cluster torp FAW2 Cannon scatter2 rapid fire omega attack pat==a-great-crew
it was my intention to stand-off and avoid partial burst and tractors they set-up torp spread with
it was almost as difficult as the Undine cruisers in the omega//pela sectores..until they were corrected
the WB was staying at 74% for the longest time.;popping enginer heals at borg like rates.lucky-i was full
of batteries.
its sheilds were voldormorting me until i picked weapons overload and dropped a pannel
i had everry cook and clerk throwing rocks to win that knife fight!
Ummm, Warbird were supposed to be powerful vessels in canon. At least as powerful as a Galaxy class if not more so.... Of course that has nothing to do with this game.
All i really want to know is how a level 23 commander can take them warbird defenders down.
Most times i try i get them to about 70% and then a gold glow covers there hull and heals them upto 95% again.
It then becomes like a loop of me bring them to 70% only for them to cheat their way back upto 95% with a glowing gold thingy, and this loop can go on for hours, usually ending up with me so frustrated i just give up and want to throw all my toys out of the pram, LOL.:D
Please tell me how to kill them.
It was so much easier with my first charactor and engineer, but there must be something different about tactical.
All i want to do is have a little fun with the game and not get so stuck with it.
Where did the defenders come from? I replayed the Noble rescue mission the other day and ran into one on my way out, it was the first time I ever saw one and it was a nightmare to take down. I would get it down to 50% and it would heal back to 90 it was a 15 min battle, not fun!
The USS Noble is what im playing, plus a previous mission in the Raptor systerm.
Im using very rare phaser cannons and quantum torpedos, i even tried extending my sheilds around the Noble but it just sits there on fire not heading out.
How can you escort something that hardly moves.
Ive been trying to beat that warbird for 3 days, its odd that when i made the above posts that only moments later i was able to kill the warbird really easily within 10 minutes.
The same thing happened in the Raptor systerm, i posted about it after 4 days of trying and the next time i tried suddenly the warbirds werent there anymore but in their place were Mogias which i can take down pritty easily.
Besides i thought that Mogia's where more advanced than the warbird and thus should be stronger according to the tv show and films.
After all captain picard did threaten to take on 3 warbirds in just a galaxy class.
And in the movie warbirds werent sent to kill the scmittar because they werent as strong as the new Mogia's.

Please make Warbirds more Cannon.
Maybe it was your Starfleet tactics and not the Warbird.
I can beat the warbirds now, but only after ive been killed three times by the heavy plasma torpedos with 2 seconds flat of engagement, on the fourth time the warbird just sits there and lets itself be killed.
I might aswell commit sucided the first three tries just to get to the easy fourth try. LOLOLOLOL
I might be mistaken but the Mogia seem stronger now after the patch update.
Still things are more fun without those really powerful warbird defenders now.
I had some friends at launch who quit the game when they got to Romulan space because of the difficulty jump over the Klingons. No joke. They had lifetimes, too.
I had trouble beating the Defenders, as a commander in a commander tactical ship, and thought it was a bug until I saw it was possible to beat one on these on the forums. I then went back with a change in tactics, weapons, and bridge crew abilities and chewed one up easily.
How sad that they took them out; I hope it was just because they were for a special event, and not because people were incompetent in fitting their ships. And if they were for a special event, I hope they put them back in for good someday.
The Romulan \ Remen play is my favourite ingame stuff, i may not be a brill starship fighter or great at equiping the ship with items and personel, but hell, its only a game and one doesnt have to be a professional to just wanna have fun playing.
I wasnt critisizing the Warbird Defender by the way, far from it, all i wanted to know really was how to beat them. Well their not in the game now so it doesnt matter anymore.
Still Star Trek Online, keep up the good work, you have me completely addicted to the best game on the web, in my opinion.

What kind of weapons are you using?
What BO powers do you have at your disposal?
That particular NPC did make it into the game by accident - but it is entirely beatable with a good setup.
You're supposed to fly into the nebula like the thing tells you to do. Then it'll become vulnerable, but you don't have to kill it yourself anyway.

Please excuse my spelling, im not good at it.
Those were special warbirds for an upcoming event. The normal ones should be back.
Maybe it was your Starfleet tactics and not the Warbird.
In your academy, there is a pretty applicable technique for facing such obstacles.
Adapt or Die, was that what the Headmistress said?
Wouldn't adding more cannons to Warbirds make them harder to kill?
/runs off into sunset
Lol right there ^
Load the plasma cannon balls!

I don't bring out battleships (or design them) unless there are things like Defenders which need something bigger to squash them!
(Yes I know there are anti-capital 'escorts' with DHCs but I don't like DHCs - science ships as 'light cruisers' are my usual vessels of choice)
