Our fleet had a meeting about how we may have to start holding back because frankly people just don't want to PVP against us anymore, because most are FTP'rs who just can't stand getting rolled over repeatedly. Is it their fault? No.. Cryptic its time you take responsibility for the development of the new wave of players so that they are completely inept once they reach Vice Admiral. You offer zero challenge on their road to VA, you make them learn absolutely nothing. Why should I have to hold back.. or why should I have to take responsibility to fix the PVP community as a whole? You are not paying me to do that.. Either help the players learn the basic fundamentals, or just sit there and watch PVP die.
You're talking about needing a challenge, well have you considered challenging some of the remaining pvp fleets?
No offense, but rolling pugs with a premade doesn't exactly mean you're the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Most pugs especially fed pugs, (i'm looking at you tac Odds) are just terrible.
Well I am sure we would be happy to take your fleet on in a match if you all like. If it's a good match then it would benefit both our fleets as we could continue to have nice matches in the future. Again.. get a hold of me in game if you want to do that.
I'm a Space PvPer almost exclusively in STO and a Free to Play Member and I won't be coming back to it until all these ridiculous shield and stacking bugs are fixed. I have no problem "being rolled" by Gold Members. What I do have a problem with is the fact that PvP is buggy, boring, repetitive and meaningless in STO.
If you want to complain about something, complain about that, but leave slander of the Silver members out of it.
Well I just hit VA the other day and so far my only pvp experience was in the kerrat warzone. Allot of fun, though yeah I was getting smoked until a cruiser decided to make me immortal heh.
I agree though, I got to VA without learning anything at all about how to play. There's simply no way you would know anything honestly. sifting through the forum will get a newb lost real quick. For example I just completed my first STF last night and left before being told I needed to pick up my data chip, Kinda sucked but you live and learn I guess.

Yeah that's my issue right here.. that while your leveling up there is nothing complex to it at all, no depth.. press space bar and win, you aren't shown that there is a lot more to it then simple point and shoot. Early in the game the tutorial tells you to use shooter mode to fire on the ground. Why would you do that? When hitting X to aim gives you a 33 percent damage bonus?
Not arguing or w/e, but my opinion is and I speak just for myself, I have zero interest in PvP, I would much rather take some story based missions any day, its nothing against you all. It would suck if I were forced to PvP, although I'm not entirely sure that's the point. But I do agree that when I leveled I was told hardly anything about setups and skills, had to look-up/read all that for myself, there also seems to be a lot of people who don't wan't to read anything at all, which makes it a lot more difficult to teach them anything.

I hear weekends are the best time to issue a challenge to another fleet. Have you fought against the. Tsi feller's I hear about? Or maybe them thar pandas? I'm sure either of them would be more then happy to pvp on a Sunday or Saturday after noon ( I think tsi is mostly Europe time zones though). Give @matteo716 a message intake or @zorena. They can point you in the right direction I think.
1AQ is always up for a challenge as well. We later in the evening, so if the TSI/Panda timezones dont work for you, maybe ours will. You can hit me up, or @Jsimon22 to set something up
On a more serious note, I don't think Cryptic is as interested in PvP as you seem to think.
Some of the more... Loud mouth... people on the forums are PvP'ers and with at times, very hard arguments, they tend to be caught in crossfire they can't dodge.
There are two major "factions" in this game who keep getting ignored: KDF and PvP... Interestingly they are also the ones who are the least developed, in terms of content and modes...
Stop whining, PvP is for the strong, not the weak. I've only been playing since F2P release and PvP was easy at lower levels and now I am spending lots of time reading through the forums trying to learn as much as possible before getting back into it. You just have to put in the effort to learn the game to PvP like any other game. There is no PvE content which could prepare you for PvP. The best thing Cryptic could do would be to have a PvP mode in addition to whats already there in which if you die you lose everything and have to roll a new toon and the other team can loot your stuff. That would keep the noobs away and make it much more exciting. A ladder system would also be nice.

This post makes little sense.
PVP is dying because new players don't know how to pvp? What about all the other players who have been around? If they were enough to keep you active, but now not, then isn't your issue with declining numbers of experienced pvpers?
New players have nothing to do with it. Blaming the decline of pvp on f2p gamers has nothing to do with it.
Declining pvp participants are always in my memory of pvping (1999 onwards) due to two things:
1) class imbalance
2) lack of reward
Class Imbalance: many, many games have had worse imbalance than STO. I play both sides and enjoy my Klingon side more. I have max level fed and a 49 Klingon. My Klingon loses 25% of his pvp mathces. I have only lost 1 pvp match as a fed to my memory. The disparity there is not bad and not much of a concern IMO.
Lack of Reward: you could possibly say that STO offers no pvp rewards. This would be true and something that should be addressed. Having a random white-item drop every 3 Arenas is not what I consider "incentive." Maybe incentive is the wrong word. How about "BONE."
Hey, throw us PVPers a bone once in a while, huh? If STO offered PVPers an STF-like reward system, then who would it hurt? Anyone? Buehler? Exactly, it would hurt no-one because most of the player-base just likes to pve.
I have a private EQ server I run for the wife and I. I write quests and place NPCs. It doesn't take long to construct a system that is simple and offers rewards. We're talking hours, not months. This isn't something that would divert "massive" resources from the development team.

let it die for all most of us care......if you want pvp, play eve.
what they need to do is follow guild wars 1's example, make pvp a separate character/toon and server, that way they dont have to keep nerfing items that are fine in pve to make pvp'ers happy...

That is a horrible idea. I play this because it is all one server.

Japfi, I think part of the problem ground pvp faces is a self defeating cycle.
I don't really care for the pve in game, as I find it dumb and repetitive so I pvp. When I go to my pvp q pulldown I can get a space fvk or fvf match in usually about 3 to 5 minutes.
When I look at the ground side of things, wait time is usually double that. To be honest that's probably and improvement over the past.
Before f2p I remember qing for ground during the 'Harpeng Crisis" and just waiting for an unbearable amount of time for a pop. I honestly can't remember if I got one.
Essentially, I don't think some people q for ground because to the wait time and because of the wait time people don't q.
It's a vicious cycle and I don't know how cryptic could address it.

I'm mean there's only a handful of pvp fleets left, Lore, Sad Pandas, Angry Clowns, TSI and you sir, do not ring a bell.
You want to know who I am then challenge me in game.. @japfi
Or you could have said what fleet your in. Sometimes the @ names on the forum don't ring bells.
That's a better way to ask that question. FES/ Federation Emergency Services and KES/ Klingon Emergency Services

surrounded by a moat....
on an island...
so yeah, I meant more like other people who haven't lost a punch of folks to TOR.
Also, lolground, really?
:P
Hey! I want ground PVP to become relevant again lol.. Maybe its because I am only average in space xD
This game has a ground portion? really? huh

Besides, they can't handle the server set up they currently have. Maybe if they quit bogging it down with so much TRIBBLE...
