Kar'ukaaaaaaaaaaaan?!

Last 2800 mission:

OK, made it to Ops using the stealth module I found in one of my little used kits. A few run-ins with shrouded Jem'Hadar, but nothing a quick respawn and minor regenerator couldn't handle.

Found Kar'ukan and three bodyguards waiting in Ops.

Tried a direct frontal assault on the big K and got killed instantly. Tried a couple of more times with same result.

Decided to try ninjaing the bodyguards one-by-one using the stealth module and some good damage buffs. Worked out fairly well, I must say.

One problem. Kar'ukan always killed me right after I killed one of his bodyguards. When I finally killed the last bodyguard and was in turn KIAd by Kar', I respawned ready to beard the lion in his den. Imagine my surprise when I found myself in an empty Ops room. No sign of Mr Kar'ukan and no way out of Ops short of a beam out and a mission abort apparently.

Kar'ukaaaaaaaaan...

Any ideas?

If you do the optional "get supplies" side-quest, it actually makes the final boss easier. I won't say what it does, but when you do it, there is only Karukann and and 1 bodyguard.

For sake of discussion what level and career is your charter? is your gear up to snuf? Are you playing on advanced or elite? if so and it is causing problems you can't by-pass just turn it down to normal to get the mission complete and turn it back up to your hearts content there after.

I did the optional as well, and it only left Karukan with one Jem'Hadar which was soooooo easy. I did it without the optional and it was a little harder but still do-able. Had no problems either way.

Do the optional gather useful supplies then there's only one body guard MUCH EASIER

I took out the guards first, but Karukhan killed me pretty quickly on my first and second assault. But by the third time I managed to get through by hypospraying part way through the battle.

OK, I dropped from Elite to Advanced and collected the optional toys. Everything worked like a well scripted TV show... Thanks for all the help everyone!

Plasma Grenade made Karukan really easy.

Plasma Grenades make anything stupidly easy. As it put sht game AI into stupid mode (i.e. stand around and watch the pretty flames).

Never tried it without the optionals. Also never died there. Used the tactical ground combat mode.

If you want a challenging plasma grenade use train one of your boffs in it. Enemie runs at me with a melee weapon, tac boff throws grenade. I got at least once in every ground mission baked by me own ppl till I gave it up and trained them something else ;)

Karukaan felt easier to handle than his bodyguard or any of the previous Jem'hadar in the mission. Granted I play an Engineer with Weapons Malfunction. Completed it on Elite difficulty with 1 death to the Jem'Hadar.

If you're a Tactical officer you should probably run with a high grade Security Protocol kit of appropriate rank, to get Suppressing Fire and Overwatch. That coupled with Fire on my Mark should make Karukaan much easier to handle.

I killed Kar'ukan first. I tossed in a stun grenade and then when full frontal assault. His health went down to 75% before he finally got freed. I spent the rest of the battle backing around ops firing at Kar'ukan while he chased me. We started at the office and he fell before we made it to the view screen. I didn't even know there was a bodyguard at first as it was stuck trying to get around the pillar as we walked around the room.

As for big boss battles, this is probably one of the easiest I've ever seen.

You shouldn't be taking damage from Plasma Grenades any more, that was taken out with Season Four. AFAIK no skills or damage dealing abilities used by your BOffs will affect you any more, neither will your abilities deal damage to you or your BOffs. AFAIK the only ability that still hits friendlies is Nanoprobe Infestation, which will tend to infect a friendly NPC and then you. Not seen it infect a friendly player yet, at least not that I recall.

Huh, I thought they were still AOI weapons. I quit giving grenades to BOffs and I prefer the stun grenade over the plasma, so I wouldn't know.

    Good, if true.

I didn't complete the optionals, I couldn't find the "useful supplies", not sure if this was a bug.

As an engineer, I put a cover shield in the lift entrance and turrets to the side, popped out to fire occasionally, got through it unscathed.

Yeah, the optional makes him a mega easy boss....never had anyone die in the runs I've been doing with PUGS sinse yesterday.

The optional is a must...and the cutscene with it is a good laugh..
    Explosives + lift = boom

Frankly, Kar'ukan isn't much of a problem, especially if you've got a high-mark (as high as your grade allows) Medic kit...didn't try doing the mission without the optionals though

had some fun going after karu'kan with the cover shield, i even trapped one of his friends in the captains office while i went after karu'kan, it was hilarious that the jem'hadar was trying to break out and knocked himself out a few times.

ive done both direct forntal attack and with optionals, no difference in strength as far as i noticed.

But no one has answered the last part of his question. If you die on occasion he will not respawn denying you the chance to complete the part of the mission. How do you get around that, if at all? I do not want to replay this mission because of a blasted glitch.

this is the most bugged out mission there is in this game..
most of the time when you hit the end and beam back aboard ds9 its the regular ds9 and you cant click on the console to end the mission..

sometimes the hatch wont open and you get stuck outside in space, and sometimes during the fight with the boss the cut scene replays over and over and over.. and you never actually enter ops.
