Angel, we do a single, regular, weekly build. That is when I would expect this.
The only time we do another patch is when it's an emergency, game breaking bugfix. And that patch will ONLY be those files involved in that single bug fix.
This is not a gamebreaking bug. At worst, it is an annoyance.
Last night (Saturday night), laying in bed with my laptop on my chest, I read much of this thread, and then went and sent off another email to the dev mentioned before, and our producer. In that email, I mentioned that it was only being reported with larger ships, and asking if collision could be adjusted instead of the camera itself. I thought this might be new information for the dev to work with.
Now, It's Sunday morning, I'm still laying in bed, with my laptop on my chest, and I got an email back from my producer saying it's already been fixed. I replied with 'sweet, nevermind then.'
That's dedication - sitting there waiting and not moving for more than twelve hours. But it's bad for ya - your eyes will melt outta your skull and your muscles will turn to gelatin if you stay there much longer. Get up, move around, get a cup of coffee, exercise your tired eye muscles. *sage nod*

I'm glad you sent off the email, and glad you know people always want to know more even if some folks don't and other folks don't know how to ask nicely. Thanks

....still really wants to know what the fix is though....;)

I want to say, even if I disagree with some things you said in this thread (and who do I agree with entirely?), I REALLY, REALLY appreciate you taking the time to talk about this and interface with the community and explain how things work on your day off.
And I appreciate the work of whoever changed the camera zoom and I appreciate that they meant well. I really wish you guys would adopt a longer testing cycle and any frustration I have is with deadlines and brevity of testing cycles, not with the person who made this change. I'm sure everyone there at Cryptic gets frustrated with schedules as well, probably including the people tasked with setting them.
meh, I was on my feet all day yesterday, from quite early.
Today is my day to lay around, sleep, and rest. Hence the laptop use while in bed.
Currently sitting here, watching Pitch Black and reading the forums. Should probably shower before the sun goes down.
Then I need to make some progress in ME3.
Pitch Black was WAY better than Chronicles of Riddick.
They took a perfectly good anti-hero and butchered him into the standard/cookie cutter/run of the mill A-hole hero.
Horrible.
Might this be one of the same secret projects Heretic is working on? I have no idea what Heretic's secret project is, just that he also teased us about it.
Pitch Black is better than it's sequel, in which they totally screwed his character up. I'm interested to see what they do with the third one now that it's (apparently) happening.
We do our best to guess at what you guys would like/not like, but the dissatisfied parties are always the ones we hear. We heard people dissatisfied with the zoom levels the way they were, so we changed them. No we hear from parties dissatisfied with the change.
Or just set up an invisible bounding box around each ship and don't allow the camera to breach that box. The x,y,z extents of the model determine the size of the box.
Also, it stands to reason that they have many devs who specialize in different things, and so a sysadmin doesn't have the same duties as a database engineer doesn't have the same duties as a modeler doesn't have the same duties as a sound engineer doesn't have the same duties as... yeah, you get the picture.
why on earth would a dev waste time restricting our camera options?
server is on fire around us, tell the noob who reported to...um....back off 1 click? wtf?!
the ships are the star of star trek, always have been. please restore this option asap.
I agree with this. And Tumerboy mentioned he wasn't sure if the complaint came from the community or the dev team. And if there's somebody on the dev team that doesn't know how to properly utilize the zoom function.......then that person need not be on the dev team.
Strange, my camera distance is so close now I can put it inside my Hermes-class fleet escort, resulting in my entire ship disappearing but the impulse graphics ghostily floating along inside my camera. Rather disconcerting, really.

Don't Worry, I have been warned
These were the most shocking details to me.
>_>
<_<
Tumerboy, aren't you afraid of laptop burns? =P
I can imagine your chest hairs' burnt-to-a-crisp smell from over here! :O
Crazy post 90's names I tell you

Oooooh, do tell.
um. . . . no?
Curses! You're too clever for me!
I'll get you yet, Red Baron!
Tacos has feets? o.O
and this is different from your normal day how?
Yes, be clean for the alien beasties that come in the night.
"They mostly come at night. Mostly..."
... *urge to spoil ending rising* ...
New sauce recipe?

Pitch Black is the one where they always come at night. Always.
And It's only an OK movie. There are some cool bits, but there's plot holes and poorly designed things throughout.
You do, and so help me. . . I will zoom your camera so far out you will be lucky to make out what SYSTEM you're flying by. . .
Ya, it wasn't great. A few nice tricks, some cute phrases but nothing wonderful.
Quality comeback
Yup, sounds about right.
