I've been playing STO for a couple of months now and I have completely ignored the forums, so I though I’d change that, so.... Hello :D

I’ve been an avid Star Trek fan ever since I first saw the Enterprise-D when I was about 5-6 years old. And now to have the chance to become a small part of Star Trek is almost a dream come true.
(Okay, I might be dramatising it a little bit :o )

That's why I love STO - you get to roleplay a captain in his chair just by flying your ship around.

I don't know about anyone else but communicating in game using proper ship to ship protocol is so darn fun I made an RP guild that does that exclusively. My officers don't RP by sitting in Quarks lol xD

Lol this forum is considered really, really good. We are all Trekkers, young and old, so there is a lot of common ground here.

I just ignore all the newbie bashing thread because.... does anyone go out of their way to train new players for task force ops instead of complaining on them? I know I -do- actively train people :P

I'm sure you won't be as bad as me.

My new Klingon character somehow ended up leading a force of new-ish Federation players against a Borg invasion. I taught the escort pilots to formation-strafe the cubes while cruisers bombarded from range.

Then came an enormous 10 mile long Borg mothership and we did nae have any heavy weapons to take her down with.

    What did I do?

    Order everyone to kamikaze :D

The 'dishonorable' part came in when I realized too late my character was too low level to use Ramming Speed or Abandon Ship abilities. So yes, the entire Federation task force wiped itself out on suicide attacks against the mothership while a tiny little bird of prey innocently slipped away under cloak.

That's definitely -not- leadership by example LOL

Well it depends on which perspective. Klingon perspective or Starfleet Command's perspective. The Klingons would definitely love the 'winning without fighting' aspect. Very Sun Tzu. BUT then again on hindsight it's not a Klingon tactic to win without 'honorable battle' of some sort. This tactic was more Romulan than anything else xD

I won't want to think of what happens to the next Klingon deep space 'diplomatic' trading run lol.

I suppose so, but then again I read somewhere that the Klingons are more 'we'll help the federation beat the Borg because afterward they will be weaker and easyer to defeat'

Hmm there were some similar dialogue lines in the 2800 mission 'Second Wave'.

Yes they are fun to play as a team.

I know there are no proper, functional Federation carriers yet but....

I got 3 (or 4, can't remember, I think one left halfway due to RL) pilots to fly attack shuttles while I used the freighter holoemitter on my own shuttle and played it like an auxiliary carrier.

One attack shuttle had a capital assault loadout with DHCs, the other two had wide angle beams while I had dual beams and a full complement of satellite torpedo turrets "just in case".

It was fun commanding this imaginary roleplayed carrier attack wing in Operation: Gamma. Eraun literally shat his pants because we had more than enough firepower to take down his 'little' flotilla :D

Could always do a re-enactment of that miniature carrier battle but not sure if everyone would want to re-do their starship hotkey assignments after. Lol.

I wonder if Prometheus counts as a carrier with its MVAM LOL

Fellow RPer @cfaith06 told me once she wished to have a mission where 3-6 players commanded individual sections of an MVAM.

I think that would be epic, but we were wondering what if we messed up the rejoin and had random parts from multiple ships combining together lol.

Btw the tiny nacelles on the Alpha section are cute xD

Uh oh, if you're planning on bringing out the MVAM, I need to de-mothball that old converted liner / auxiliary cruiser on the VA char. And get more Scorpion fighters :D

But you can also look at it as tactical maneuvering as you successfully rid yourself of two enemies...the federation and the Borg command ship. You can write a lot of songs and story of your remarkable deeds and the only ones that know are you, the crew, and Sto-Vo-Khor. :D
