One thing I really like about Star Trek Online the the Tailor.
The appearance of my main character has changed since he was an inexperienced ensign.
There have been some small tweeks to 'season' him and I have used the Age slider at various stages through his career.
Has anyone else done this with thier character? Or have you left him alone?
Check out the ageing of McCracken here  ...

Marro, Celise - 18 years (Bajoran, female)
K'Mec - 28 years (Klingon, female)
Darius J. Sevrin - 38 years (Human, Male)
Letak Elmor - 30 years (Cardassian, Male. assuming i can be a playable cardie at some point for now its alien gen)
i even have a bios and background to each, but nothing that is added in game though.
In my biography, I have information written in a "personnel file" type format, which includes age. For each rank I achieve, I age him by how long I think it would take that character to get up to that rank, then adjust hair color and aged skin accordingly.
Do you age your doffs and boffs and pets too?
Yes I have aged my Boffs, added a battle scar here and there.
I would age my pets if I could get a pet beagle
BTW - I made my Captain look like me as much as I could. I haven't grown a Moustache yet.
Well, if they are no longer useful/attractive enough they take one final journey to the Agony Booth. Then it´s time for fresh meat.
For myself because it makes sense to me
Actually, some sort of automated ageing system would not be that bad either
It would eliminate all those hard-body vice admiral fem-bots walking around!
... point 2
That's a bit like aging, I suppose.
More seriously, though, I think that's cool that you take advantage of the character customization to make that happen. I have, truthfully, mostly used the tailor to tweak an officer whose appearance bugs me (lol@ alien officers, as you can basically change their whole species) or get my crew in the same uniforms. However there are one or two who changed their hair style or the like based on their relationship with their captain... Yes, I am lame enough to make up stories for my crew during downtime. It makes it harder to dismiss an officer sometimes, though.
That's a very smart way of doing it. Wish I did that, but the once-piece 7o9 uniform was too much of a temptation
Character (human) starts off at Age 20 as a junior commissioned officer.
Level 1 = 20 years old Lieutenant (JG)
Level 10 = 30 years old Lt. Cdr
Level 20 = 40 years old Commander
Level 30 = 50 years old Captain
Level 40 = 60 years old Rear Admiral
Level 50 = 70 years old Vice Admiral
Granted, 70 is actually way past retirement age for most RL Navies but given Star Trek's advanced genetics and medical tech, humans could very well have an average lifespan of 100 years old or more **. And I prefer having my captains senior and respected, not some 20-something high school Kirk Jr.
I mean, not to delve into RL politics but Singapore right now has a 96 years old senior minister still governing the nation with no sign of retiring anytime soon... 96!
Footnote:
** - Redshirts not included
Reaching and exceeding the age of 200 was considered rare for Vulcans. Sarek was 202 years old when he first visited the Enterprise D and was rapidly deteriorating.
T´Pol was around 60 years old when she became the sceince officer on board the first Enterprise, and heck she didn´t look like a granny.
(However, remembering that there have been proven methods to rejuvenate people in the Star Trek universe decades before, wouldn't it seem logical to assume that by now, they have finally figured out how to do it without the catastrophic consequences it would have had back then?)
It's merely a figure on the screen, that spends most of the time showing me his a*s...
The only reason I put some efford into the appearence of my char, was because I got some free uniforms and stuff... Other than that, there is no reason to "age" or add scars or anything like that... it's just pixels.
back on topic, i aged my toon but they wont age any further because as someone else stated, the year of the timeline is static and nor would i.
from what i can guess, McCoy was around 140 years during the enterprise-d's first mission so i would guess around 150-160 years old some humans can live to, same sort of age klingons live to typically.
remember commander Shelby during the first borg incursion? she wasnt even 40, she looked in her high 20's early 30's when she was commander.
what about the few captains that made that rank at the age of their early 30's? James Kirk and Tryla Scott. i think it's entirely within the possibility to make the admiralty before your 40's in the star trek timetime if you work hard at it.
