Do you Age your captain?

One thing I really like about Star Trek Online the the Tailor.

The appearance of my main character has changed since he was an inexperienced ensign.
There have been some small tweeks to 'season' him and I have used the Age slider at various stages through his career.

Has anyone else done this with thier character? Or have you left him alone?

Check out the ageing of McCracken here  ...

I made mine look old from the beginning. If I aged him now, he'd be a skeleton.

I like female toons, so I make them even more beautiful. I have been told that I have some of the most beautiful characters online. Oh by the way, the avatar I have for the forums does exist and does read the forums and posts and responds to posts.

    Yes, I do.

In my biography, I have information written in a "personnel file" type format, which includes age. For each rank I achieve, I age him by how long I think it would take that character to get up to that rank, then adjust hair color and aged skin accordingly.

Yes I have aged my Boffs, added a battle scar here and there.
I would age my pets if I could get a pet beagle :p

BTW - I made my Captain look like me as much as I could. I haven't grown a Moustache yet.

what would be the point? there is no captains database to view each captain and you never get to view someones elses BoFFs anyway.

Well, if they are no longer useful/attractive enough they take one final journey to the Agony Booth. Then it´s time for fresh meat. :D

The species of all my characters live long lifespans. My main's "skin" cannot really represent any aging, though overtime I might change the color scheme. But overall, nope.

For myself because it makes sense to me :)

Actually, some sort of automated ageing system would not be that bad either
It would eliminate all those hard-body vice admiral fem-bots walking around!

if such a thing happened, i wouldnt want to be seeing aging ingame OAPs with zimmerframes getting into an STF ground fight with the borg, it wouldnt be right.

I wouldn't say I age my character but because she's an Alien I have made a uniform slot to where she has aged, thats just me I guess ^.^

A bit. I did eventually get a new host, though.

    That's a bit like aging, I suppose.

Aged? My captains rose from mere ensigns to admirals in a handful of days!

More seriously, though, I think that's cool that you take advantage of the character customization to make that happen. I have, truthfully, mostly used the tailor to tweak an officer whose appearance bugs me (lol@ alien officers, as you can basically change their whole species) or get my crew in the same uniforms. However there are one or two who changed their hair style or the like based on their relationship with their captain... Yes, I am lame enough to make up stories for my crew during downtime. It makes it harder to dismiss an officer sometimes, though.

I don't age them per se, but my liberated borg characters were de-borged over time. They started out with infected skin, and large implants, and gradually regained skin color and smaller implants, and grew back hair. I did the same for my eng borg boffs.

That's a very smart way of doing it. Wish I did that, but the once-piece 7o9 uniform was too much of a temptation :o

My character's a vulcan, so I don't do that. they live for a very long time anyway. :P they could litterally be age 50 and never show it. I think they only start to show it when they hit 100.... They can live up to 300 years I believe.

Okay I just have to rehash my 'level = RL age' joke from seeing Ms. Moon's post :3

Character (human) starts off at Age 20 as a junior commissioned officer.

Level 1 = 20 years old Lieutenant (JG)
Level 10 = 30 years old Lt. Cdr
    Level 20 = 40 years old Commander
    Level 30 = 50 years old Captain
Level 40 = 60 years old Rear Admiral
Level 50 = 70 years old Vice Admiral

Granted, 70 is actually way past retirement age for most RL Navies but given Star Trek's advanced genetics and medical tech, humans could very well have an average lifespan of 100 years old or more **. And I prefer having my captains senior and respected, not some 20-something high school Kirk Jr.

I mean, not to delve into RL politics but Singapore right now has a 96 years old senior minister still governing the nation with no sign of retiring anytime soon... 96!

    Footnote:

    ** - Redshirts not included

I would actually like to make my character old when he hits Admiral (one day). And then retire him with a straw hat picking grapes like Picard in 'All Good Things'. :)

Reaching and exceeding the age of 200 was considered rare for Vulcans. Sarek was 202 years old when he first visited the Enterprise D and was rapidly deteriorating.

T´Pol was around 60 years old when she became the sceince officer on board the first Enterprise, and heck she didn´t look like a granny. :D

My main toon has been aged to look like something in his mid-forties when he hit Captain level. I have no intent to age him further, though.

(However, remembering that there have been proven methods to rejuvenate people in the Star Trek universe decades before, wouldn't it seem logical to assume that by now, they have finally figured out how to do it without the catastrophic consequences it would have had back then?)

    No? Why would I?

It's merely a figure on the screen, that spends most of the time showing me his a*s...

The only reason I put some efford into the appearence of my char, was because I got some free uniforms and stuff... Other than that, there is no reason to "age" or add scars or anything like that... it's just pixels.

going further off point with that remark, why play the game at all if all you consider it as beneath you (pixels)?

back on topic, i aged my toon but they wont age any further because as someone else stated, the year of the timeline is static and nor would i.

from what i can guess, McCoy was around 140 years during the enterprise-d's first mission so i would guess around 150-160 years old some humans can live to, same sort of age klingons live to typically.

remember commander Shelby during the first borg incursion? she wasnt even 40, she looked in her high 20's early 30's when she was commander.

what about the few captains that made that rank at the age of their early 30's? James Kirk and Tryla Scott. i think it's entirely within the possibility to make the admiralty before your 40's in the star trek timetime if you work hard at it.

My Andorian started old, and my KDF tac is slightly aged, but not much.
