1. Are the assignments open for everyone?
2. Do we NEED the DoFFs from the store to do them?
3. Are those missions only using the new traits which only the store DoFFs have or are they just criticals?
4. Do those DoFFs have new skill enhancing buffs?
Especially if Nr. 4 is not the case I'll pass on this...I need my DoFFs to boost my gameplay and not to run around.

I am not a big fan of the Doff system, and the DevPost is just promoting a new C-Store addition. Do people actually buy Doff packs LOL? The system needs to be much more interactive rather than a tick-and-flick spreadsheet system.
My 5min Doffing is as follows ....
Open Doff window
commence rapid-clicking to fill up assignments
Close Doff window
It does not interest me enough to even read the assignments, or Doff descriptions, I just watch the pie chart colours change
This = huge P2w money grab, especially if the new consoles only come through mission that only playable with the c-store doffs
Although my initial reaction was that you would need to pay for a DOFF package to play the new mission content that they're making available, I've changed my opinion after giving it some thought.
220 Cryptic points is easily attainable through dilithium to C-Store point conversion for anyone who plays the game on even a semi-regular basis. Also, they seem to suggest that recruitment missions will also provide you with these DOFFs.
If a player wants instant gratification by buying ten cadres without spending much time playing, that option is open to them, but it's not necessary, therefore my opinion is that it's not as money grabby as it seems up-front.
I expect that all content in the future will have some tie back to the C-Store, as this seems to be the method that Cryptic is choosing to use to implement their Free to Play model. The change in the way content is being rolled out, primarily through the C-Store is a difficult transition for some of us long term players to make, but that's the way it's going to be. It doesn't make much sense, afterall, for a company to change their entire business model, while still rolling out the game the old way.

Sounds cool. But why exactly are we getting Dominion races as Doffs? It makes sense to get Cardassians, but most of the others (Jem'Hadar, Vorta, etc) don't.

I'm open to the idea that the Dominion may have defectors. I'd love to see some story content addressing the situation, though, especially if the Jem'Hadar are no longer completely dependent on the White.
Good stuff, and I can't wait to open up some expansion packs. I look forward to new DOffs and DOffing opportunities. I've some C-Points (including stipend) saved up, and I'll likely buy a few more in support of Team Heretic.
I'm also wondering about the reasoning here. The DOff pack reward from the mission made sense, since we'd been working with a Vorta and his Jem'Hadar in this particular FE, but where are all these others coming from? I know the Federation has dual-citizenship now, but are they really extending it to the Gamma Quadrant?
Other than my curiosity there, this looks pretty cool.
So, when I hear the term "Expansion", I tend to think of actual mission content expansion, new areas to explore, new races to meet/fight, that sort of thing.
But in this case, the "Duty Officer Expansion", is nothing more than an attempt to grab some extra cash from people who otherwise haven't spent much on the previous "Officer Cadre" packs. Furthermore, making the purchase of the new pack a REQUIREMENT if you want access to Mark XII Rare and Epic consoles.
If that's true, perhaps a clarification statement is in order?
It does say that there are new "Assignment Chains", which will reward new items such as Mark XII Blue/Purple consoles. One would assume by the tone of the rest of the blog entry, that these new assignments, also REQUIRE some of the new officers.
Tosk? Awesome!
"Captive Pursuit" was one of the best early DS9 episodes, and cemented Chief O'Brien as my most favorite Star Trek character of all time!

but my trek-fu has failed me
what the heck is a Pardadan?
We'll just have to look forward to that.
One thing that hasn't been specificed. But I will assume that the new Doff Pack will cost 220 Cpoints?
These are one of the races indigenious to the Gamma Quadrant, which were canonly mentioned in Star Trek.
whats be better than rare? none?
Very rare for example....
We'll be playing for 10 minutes instead of 3?

These Doffs are available through ingame Doff assignments as well, just like the previous ones.
I suspect they mean Paradan.
Federation has over 300 races in it and you do doffs which should be impossible to be on my crew?
Strange...

Fixed! Thank you
Cheers,

they are meant to be the evil caitians or something. i think they are pretty much made up just for STO unless they appeared in a book or something.
Uh, Cryptic owns the Blog, they could advertise Cryptic STO Gummy Bears if they wanted.
"D"uty "Off"icer = DOff not DoFF
On topic, love it, keep up the good work.
Ah yes, them. That explains why I'd heard of them before, but couldn't remember from where. Thanks!

DOffing may not be for all, but I realy enjoy it!
Thanks!

That would be cool. Looks kind of like a Hideki class, right?

Good job Cryptic. Reeeallly...
Except it's not a requirement.
