To the guy screaming at everyone in the Cure Elite just now....WOW lmao.... Calling everyone noobs and saying "shoot yourself in the head" while you just sit there typing away not doing anything, PLUS your talking about how good you are while your ship has more damage than I have screen space!
Your supposedly A 700 day Veteran and still haven't learned one of the main point's of an Elite yet the guy thats only played for around 2 1/2 months (me) learned that in the first few days!
Just goes to show just because someone has played this game A long time doesn't always mean they have A clue what they are doing.
(Granted not saying I've learned everything of course as I still have to look up lots of info, but at least I can say I'm doing better than that^^ guy

)
/end rant
Sorry all just had to get that out.

Yes move along nothing to see here
Veggies! *Pushes Valetheon off a cliff*
The Cake is still a Lie and Hamsters smell of elderberries.
It's okay to vent, ive been there myself LOL
Noobness is a state of mind. Calling someone a noob generally indicates that you are.
Congrats Einstein as of the shortness of time I HAVE played this game as A) you can see by my date
And I'll even use your logic: This thread was about A veteran player that insisted on calling everyone noobs.... soooo with YOUR logic he is A noob then....Which was the point I was making to begin with.
PS: I also noticed the similarity of your name to that of the player mentioned as your join date.....As this thread seems to bother you so much to troll it, perhaps you are him.
Lol that brings me back ot the days of Restuss in SWG...another Rebel kept calling me a noob because I was about 10 levels under him. Yet I did better than him and when he wanted to duel me I just barely lost because he had the killshot right before I killed him  . What made it funnier is that for the rest of the evening everyone had this guy on ignore or ignored him because of the obvious troll-ness and cocky attitude, and let the Imps gank him till he rage quit.
I miss SWG
One of the reasons i'm glad I don't use the voice chat. It's one thing reading their nonsense it's another having their voices in my head. (Plenty of voices up there anyways, I don't need anymore
And yea definitely gotta love that ignore feature.
It's not just the 'unqualified' taking command of STF runs but the same thing happens in simplier missions like CE too.
I saw a huge group of random PUGs once took down a CE to about 20% in short order because everyone obviously took the time to read up on how to defeat it on STOwiki. Things were going quite well and people for once seemed to know what to target and with what weapon.
Next moment I knew 3-4 people were typing orders and insults to everyone in ALL CAPS and results spoke for themselves - the CE regenerated to 75% over the next ten minutes as the casualty rate soared and no one intercepted the small fragments returning to heal the CE anymore.
Effective leadership does not mean being the loudest person in the team... getting the facts right is more important.
I was agreeing with you, Einstein. >>sigh<<
I don't think he was acting with troll-like behavior. I looked like he was agreeing with you.
It's like those people actually think all games have the same exact "gaming culture", but that's not true. Each MMO has it own feel, culture and stuff. So what's acceptable in other games doesn't always jive with certain games. They have to think about the context of the game... in war games like Call of duty it's more acceptable to cuss since you're basically an army guy in the game. however games like STO... it's Star trek personified. And what was the last time on star trek that you saw captains acting like a ten-year-old who just recently discovered curse words? So yeah, not really acceptable here as seeing it's not very professional for Captains to do that .XD
Just have to explain that to those guys.
Acting like a Captain (like some try to do at all times in game, with all its responsibilities) is part of roleplaying really.
RP to me doesn't involve sitting at Quark's on a Saturday night on Instance No. 1. Roleplaying as what I do is simply emulating a canon style Star Trek officer as he or she performs her honourable duty to Starfleet.
Translate that to teamplay and communications with others and ... I don't see anything about 'acting' canon that detracts from my gaming experience.
Quite the contrary, it builds friendship and it builds superb teamwork.
here... acting that way will get you killed a lot on Star Trek all the time. which is kind of realstic, actually. :P
Unless you're playing a Klingon, then it's perfectly adequate to use words like 'pataQ'
But all the KDF players I've met were friendly and polite. LOL.
You know... Thoose people who cuss at people and acti immature in other games... usually they are silenced there too..
Even in silly games such as Counter Strike, back when that still was hot, I simply shut off their voice in-game.
And not all people will shut them out... they just get into a cussing match back and forth, as if THAT was part of the gameplay itself.
*sighs* it one of the reasons why I got tired of such pvp shooting games. The funny thing is that I'm deaf, so I usually just turn off my hearing aids... and don't respond to anybody anymore while I do the missions. This tends to increase my efficiency on those games, as seeing I get so focused on the goal itself that I don't bother with anybody else unless I'm on a team. This results in me having the highest score and that tends to p*** off some people once they notice that I'm a female. so of course I get prative messages that's full of curse words from 14-year-old boys who can't take it that they were beaten by an adult woman. :P
However, I still tired of it anyway because the social aspect of games makes it ten times more fun for me... and the people on those games weren't just doing it for me, even if the shooting aspect of it was fun. So for shooting games, I stick to games like Mass Effect now. For the socialization, I stick to MMOs like STO.
How did you ever get First Place in that hellish Romulan Temple mission with a level 30 character
so if I call myself a noob then I must be right!
Of course I am pretty new to the game, with two characters (level 18 and level 11) and do not know much at all except that I like my new escort on my level 11 character (a Saber with Rapier Nacelles) better in a fight then my level 18 characters Cruiser (the Constitution that looks like a Mini Sovereign) because it is just fun to be nimble enough to turn my front facing to an enemy and hit it with a Type IV Quantum torp (high yield) and a type IV Plasma torp whenever I feel like it
Other then that, I have not figured out much except have my crew do assignments and try to complete missions as fast as I can... so yeah, I am a total noob, but am not ashamed of it. I will learn slowly, but surely.
As far as I'm concerned, that experimentation and progression stage is the BEST time of any game. Thing's don't feel like a chore, and every new map or item heralds an adventure.
Newbie ftw
there are several levels of noobs
The "newb"... is just a new player really, nothing wrong with that.
The "noob"... is the kind of guy that screws gameplay up for others, but he figures out on his own that he screwed up and next time he may do better.
The "n00b" ...is completely unable to learn or understand whats going on around him, is the kind of guy that falls for fishing mails, has 10 new viruses / malware / browser toolbars on his computer and needs a "friend" to fix it for him.
that said... i complete pulled all that out of my rear end, this is not a official naming convention... but it should be ;P
I think you just gave me a new signature for another forum i frequent, +1rep to you sir,
carry on
You are obviously a newb, not a noob. I believe there is a significant difference that you need to be aware of before calling anyone a noob.
