I've been playing for about a week now. I'm really enjoying the game. I've been playing EVE for about 5 years and tbh this is like a breath of fresh air.
I like the store, I know this might sound like blasphemy to veteran players, but I've got a stressful job that pays good money so I can afford to indulge myself for my little hobby. I love the Boxes... it's like Christmas every time I open one (socks or an iphone!)

. I like the idea that dying doesn't have a penalty. EVE in this respect if unforgiving. It allows me to enjoy the game without having to worry about how I'm going to replace the ship I just lost.... stress free fun.
As I say in the title I really have no clue what I'm doing, but the game so far is enormous fun and that's what it's all about... isn't it?

Good Job Cryptic.

>.> I have never in my EVE life on any of my accounts left a small package in a new area so they can open it up and I can fly in and blow them up <.< never Okay maybe a little (|:
Hey OP. I have a gift for you... it is out side of earth space dock
A single round of hybrid ammo? With five Tornados and a Scorpion at a nearby moon ready to warp to you?

Single round of small iron hybrid charge. I have to save money.
* sees that Xenor-Nyiad took the bait of free ammo *
Warp to 0....
* Zodi and his roaming gang of hard core PVPers
yes but this is a care-bear zone!!
Welcome to STO from a fellow EVE player as well!!
Welcome! This game is a nice casually game unlike EVE. I just started playing EVE and it definitely is not a game you can play casually, like one hour a day. Also what makes this game amazing is just how easy it is to pick up and just play for a little bit then be able to stop for a couple of days and come back no problem.
As for your thread title, don't feel too bad since the tutorial does not teach you how to use some of the less obvious parts of the UI and any of the more important parts of using skills and powers or setting up some of the more complex game options instead of wasting your time fighting "weakened Borg in a poorly set up scenerio which might be more palatable if it is a holodeck simulation at the end of your academy years" Yes Cryptic I am talking to you hint hint hint
On the box note I would not be totally opposed to be boxes if the golds dropped a little more often, like ever. I actually opened the only gold I ever saw. but the greens get deleted on sight no lies.

General EVE nastiness...drop a floating can in front of a new player station, announce there's free stuff outside, and wait for one of them to open it up and take the item you left in it (usually one round of ammo). They're flagged as a thief and then you and your elite PVP bros show up and kick their face in.
Technically illegal in starter systems but perfectly legit elsewhere.
Assume everybody playing EVE is out to kill you and take your stuff.
^ This right here is the 2nd lesson you need to learn in EVE... The first lesson is to fly only what you can afford to lose.
Yeah I was one of those guys for a while...gatecamping fools who flew failfit Caldari Navy Ravens through low-sec without scouts. Then seeing them come back 30 minutes later in their standard but also failfit Raven and popping that, too.
That's the biggest difference between the two games, STO is all about come in, have fun, fly around with no consequences. EVE is about preying on the weak, usually by outnumbering them significantly. Makes sense tactically but it's not everybody's idea of what a game should be.
Although it was nice to know that you didn't have to queue up for PVP if you wanted some...just go fly to low/nullsec and find some trouble.
That is one thing I have to give EVE that I don't give to any other game. It is the only game I have played where when PVP started my heart starts pumping and it feels like life and death.. not death and re spawn...
That being said I was horrible at PVP in EVE. I guess if I focused more I could have been been, but what I did know how to do was to survive in low sec. my corp used me for a scout, and really I enjoy that role. ( my current favorite ship is my Stealth Bomber
I come across someone. they run..
They come across me.. I get away.
Or I spy on them cloaked while talking it up with them.
Tuskers were the best on their gate camps. I lead them on some fun chaises only to cloak and chat it up with them. lol needless to say my corp didn't like me chatting. I see no problem. I wasn't going to betray them nor was I going to give any info away.
Some times I regret not finding a better active West coast PVP corp.. but as it stands last time I played EVe ( about a month ago. taking a short break ) I enjoy my low sec Mining corp.
It's nice to take a break on STO and not have to worry about anything. Plus I just won one of those Galor thingies... So like the boxes even more now! It's safely tucked away in my bank while I level up so that at some point I'll be able to fly it
* scans alleycat's cargo *
Oh look alleycat has a nice new Galor... Time for a suicide gank.
* 10 small cheap destroyers warps in and alleycat is podded, but only to respawn with all her stuff intact *
NOOOOOOOOOO lol
