I'm very new to STO and I am currently looking for a fleet to apply to. I have been doing some research and find there is only so much you can learn from reading a post and such. What I am hoping is that some members of the three fleets give me a little feed back on what the fleet offers and the type of atmosphere and play.
I am looking to play casually, have a friendly and helpful atmosphere, with mature (not meaning age, but attitude) members. I'm trying to have fun with STO not create more drama in my life.
The three I think may be the best fit for me are UFP, Federation Fleet, and STO Academy... though I am still open to suggestions if you have any.
Here's a little about the {UFP} for you to consider. We:
-- are a worldwide fleet with active members on both hemispheres.
-- are a fleet which has been in existence for more than nine years (so we're not here one day and gone the next).
-- are a fleet with both Federation and Klingon factions.
-- have rank and structure but do not require a lot of formality.
-- hold quarterly award ceremonies to recognize those who have made substantial personal contributions to the fleet.
-- have our own e-zine which is published regularly.
-- welcome players of every level, from F2P newbies to grizzled lifers who started in Beta.
-- believe in treating every member with respect.
-- allow members to play in any style they wish- we even have a few role players lurking around.
-- also support most other Star Trek games.
-- require very little for full membership- successful completion of an entrance exam (which is pretty easy) and a monthly sign-in at roll call.
-- allow members to be as involved with the fleet as they wish- from just playing the game to taking on the role of a Commanding Officer of one of our many divisions.
Maybe I didn't mention something you have a concern about. Feel free to contact me via PM if you want more specifics or have questions. I suggest you visit our website for more details. You can get there by clicking my signature. Just tell 'em Stormy sent ya.
Of the three fleets you mentioned; UFP is probably the most active I've seen.
The players I've met are nice and willing to team up with an individual.
Have an active RP group (several players actually enjoy story telling and playing in various types of stories not provided in the game or are the personal interactions not seen in the game).
I've heard a lot of people talk highly of the UFP, so it sounds like they would be good for you to investigate more on.
No Stormy didn't pay me, although he could give me a Galor
Im Mavrik from Federation Fleet. We are a very casual fleet that puts FUN, FAIR and FRIENDLY at the top of our STO play. We are as social as you want it to be, Fleet chat, Team Speak, Forums, and even on face book. It all depends on how far you want to go. No one worries about how much your on, because we all know the Real Life comes first. We get to gether to have some fun out side of RL and Drama is by no means part of it.
There are alot of brand new shinny players in the fleet, and plenty of us that have been here from day one. As for active, We had are slow moments but with F2P, things are picking up.
Im not sure how much more I can tell ya. Its just all around a great group of friends we got started in our roots.
Do feel free to mail me if you have any questions...
It's difficult to know how much "input" to give you. I don't want to bore you to death, and honestly think a personal visit to our fleet will answer any questions you may have in making a decision. Let me know if there is something specific I can discuss with you and I'll gladly do so.
