We will be bringing down Star Trek Online on Thursday, February 16th from 7:00AM to 9:00AM PST (1500 to 1700 UTC) in order to perform maintenance and apply a new patch. We will provide an update when the maintenance is complete.

    •Improved the Bortas Cloaking Device.

Improved as in functions like all other cloaking devices?
Or is it still less than 100%?
if so, how much of an improvement percentage wise?

Agreed on the logout timer part--I have sometimes come back from a bathroom break to find that I had been disconnected.

Any chance of providing a schedule/calendar somewhere on the site of these "scheduled" maintenances? I know f2p and such is probably requiring these more frequent updates, but if that is so perhaps maintaining a calendar showing the coming week's downtime would assist the playerbase in planning their gaming and also cut down the number of "server down!!!" posts etc which spring up as soon as maintenance starts.

    • Gravity Well updates:
    • The radius of this ability can now be improved by the player's Graviton Generators skill.
    • Because of this improvement, the base radius of each rank has been slightly decreased.
    • The max radius achieved through skill bonuses is still significantly higher than previously available.
    Yay Gravity Well!
    • NPC Cardassian ships now have spiral wave disruptors.
Oh heaven no! I'm outta here!

well done with the content on the patch, however i read nothing about ANY issues regarding the new 'Second Wave' mission, seems a bit like the issues are being ignored, since it is relevant im including info from a related thread

I, like other engineers, can't use any of my abilities.
A bunch of my ground powers would not work. No drones, med turrets, shield turrets, or phaser turrets but strangely, quantum mortars worked.

Embarrassing! Thats the one word that springs to mind having tried to play this mission, embarrassing.

Tried this two days running now with a friend who is a newly joined F2P player that I've been walking through the early levels. Had built up some excitement for the new FE, having explained how good they were in the past and how we've been waiting a year for this one. Having now played this mission, I don't see how it can have received any play testing before being released - it simply doesn't work in far too many ways to list here. (It may very well work in single player - I'll try tonight but this is an MMO, if a mission doesn't work with a team, it has no right being in the game.)

Just briefly, some of the bugs we encountered while trying to do this mission:

    * NPCs for the initial diplomatic optionals do not talk to you and then one of the team can get a completion response from them that doesn't update the quest for the rest of the team.
    * Quests appear to complete without you doing the required actions - the stem bolts one completed before we'd even found the guy that wanted to get rid of them (we purposely went round together on the second run through, only talking to one NPC at a time).
    * Can't get some of the NPCs to talk to you once you get into the conference room.
    * Get stuck in the conference room and can't get out after the Jem Hadar attack.
    * Whole team getting kicked back to the login screen with some bad map transfer message.
    * Complete the mission and arrive at Bajor but only one of the party gets their mission completed, it just resets to the start for the others.

I'm sure there are more but I honestly didn't bother noting them all down - I was trying to have fun, not beta test someone's work.

This has been publicized to the F2P players as a highpoint of what STO can offer, I seriously believe in its current state it will be driving this new players away because if this is supposedly the best the game has to offer, the game should still be a long way away from completing its beta testing and is no way ready for release to the general public!

Cryptic, you simply can't release stuff in this state if you expect STO to survive.

Only been able to complete it once on 1 out my 5 toons(3 fed 2 kdf)(14 runs total) with all the above issues, this is unacceptable on every level imaginable... how is it that the patch has NO information at all about fixing these issues or even recognizing them, I know for a fact that its affecting a LARGE number of people.

This is simply ridiculous and a massively embarrassing let down....

Thursdays have been historically major patch days for STO. However, scheduled means many things. Scheduled could mean hey we're giving you 10 hours of notice, too hey we're giving you a days notice (or longer) So there is no way to really put a calendar of when maintenance will be, except on Thursdays :p

•Maintenance Engineer now applies to Engineering Team, scales to an 8 sec reduction with a Purple duty officer, and also applies a buff to Starship Hull Repair when activated. Different versions will be added soon for Science Team and Tactical Team on different specializations.

i bought one some days ago for a huge bunch (high 8 digit number) of ecs but i don't use it for eng team. i'm really tempted to write something insulting ......

Maintainence again?? It was only maintained last on Tuesday and before that was on Sunday.... I bought a subscription for a month and so far there has been more downtime than uptime... How do I request/demand a refund?? These "scheduled maintainences" that are only listed on the forum a couple of hours before they happen (which is not really scheduled btw) are always on the times where I have 2 hours to play the game... I get an hour of gameplay and then an hour of downtime, then back to work... Why can't you "schedule" them for early hours of the morning when there are less players online? Annoying to say the least... I beta tested this game, found that my computer couldn't play the game and so stopped... I came back to it a few days ago to find 3 "scheduled maintainences" in less than a week... unacceptable... give us more notice...

And while I am on the subject of unhappiness... It says on the website that Gold Members dilithium should refine automatically when they log on... well mine doesn't, I am still having to refine it manually...

So is this how it's going to be? Everyday between those hours? Can't even get on after work to play an hour. Sucky maintenance times.

Everything needs maintenance, this is a game on a planet which turns once every 24hrs , so there is allways going to be a bit of game time missed by someone, but with the volume of players, missions, ships characters , human and NPC how the hell is it going to function unless someone gives their time to make the overall experience a good one, I think instead of moaning and sounding like spoilt brats a bit of thanks towards those doing the maintenance and giving us all an environment to connect in and enjoy The Star Trek universe should be in order,

Thank you developers and maintainers may your replicator coffee have a splash of romulan ale

The USS Taranis and crew thank you for your hard work

Thanks for the 60 min timer! Now I can cook dinner and be tabbed out without having to log out, or tab back in every 10 min! Great for peeps, like me who chase a houseful of kids running around between missions!

What exactly is changing? Do you think they are really AFK when they swoop in to get their loot as soon as the STF is over?

60 min might be a bit of an overkill, but 15 min pretty oftenly got me disconnected when entering sol system and it taking ages to get in.

I love the fact that people can't guess when a possible maintenance is going to happen. Hey, get this, maintenance happens in the morning. If you want a calendar do this. Go to Wal-Mart or the Dollar Store, pick up a calendar, and mark on ever day Maintenance. Just because you pay a subscription fee does not give you the right to moan and complain that something's being fixed in the game that you pay for. I would rather the game be up 24 hours but then you have to deal with data corruption, seek failures, and eventually server crashes. And guess what happens when the server crashes... that's right, you don't get to play.

So on that note, thank you Cryptic for making sure that our gaming experience is a good one but could you PLEASE let us know that someone somewhere is addressing the issues involving the new FE missions. Tried it on my Tactical officer and had three instances of being sent back to the log in screen. Tried it on my Science officer and she can't leave the conference room.

We here on the Odyssey Star Cruiser, the USS Alfheim salute you for your diligence.

Really? It's been down more than up?
Funny, seems to be up way, way more than it's down for routine maintanace to me.
At least they keep up on cleaning up bugs, data, etc
Perhaps you prefer a game launched then forgotten and never maintained.
You'll get used to constant bug squashing and general maintenance, it's just not that big of a deal.
It only takes 1-2 hrs at a time, maybe you can find some other thing to occupy those cpl hrs out of your entire day.
Oh yeah, and no refunds, read the EULA you agreed to when you installed the game.

Would you rather they NOT fix bugs weekly? I mean, seriously, if they only patched Monthly, or Quarterly or whatever, you guys would be complaining they didn't fix things fast enough. I do find it a little surprising they have to take the game down for so long in order to apply a patch, but I don't know their infrastructure.

By the way, I didn't encounter any bugs whatsoever when playing through the new FE missions. If you were playing on a team, that could be it I guess. I've never played any missions with a team so I can't speak to that. It does strike me though, given comments I've seen, that most of this game is geared toward single-player and that team play throws a wrench into the works... if there are so many bugs on team-play, it probably indicates their QA didn't include team play, which is a a huge fail for sure.
