What will Cryptic Studios and/or Perfect World Entertainment do with all the money they are making from their in game cash grabs?
I think, that they have just made a ton of money with the lock box grabs recently, given all the spam messages I see hours on end every day that I log into the game. Yep, even we subscribers see these awful advertisements go figure, paying customers are being bothered by spam too anyway
Since they are making all of this money, which is obvious through the advertisements of winning the grab bag Galors, what do you want to see for your cash?
MY HOPEFUL SHORT LIST:
Ship Additions: Federation:
-T4 Ambassador Class (Science exploration Cruiser) Free
-T3 Constellation Class (Cruiser +1) C-Store Item
-T5 Akara Class Heavy (Escort) Free
-T5 Andorian Battleship (Escort) C-Store Item
PVP
-Continue balance tweaks! Tweaks! Not Huge overbearing changes.
-Optional open PVP Patrol Missions along border systems
-Optional open PVP for Deep Space encounters
-Optional open PVP for Sector Space
PVE
-Love on the Klingons some more please!
-Continued improvements on missions and episodes already in game
-More RED ALERTS and more Distress call type missions spread throughout all Sector Space! In fact, make these randomly generated missions much like the exploration missions are randomized!! It would be neat to get a few random distress call missions that I can choose to do or ignore more regularly.
In game Bridge Officer Abilities:
-More T1 options that do not share cool-downs across the board!
-Removal of limitations to use Bridge officer T2, T3 & T4 Skills on lower Tier Starships! Keep the trend however with limitations based on ship configuration/type Science, Tactical, Engineer
They roll the 100000 dollar bills into cigars and smoke them while twirling their handlebar mustaches and laughing at us buying those bloody master keys.
The money they make doesn't affect the content they create. What they will do with the money is pay bills, pay employees, hire voice actors for future missions, and things like that.
Not that I don't disagree with the content you've asked for though, I'm just saying the money won't necessarily make them happen lol

unless they use that money to pay for new wmployees, which in turn make it possible to create content faster.

I figured at first, that more funds directly equal more content.
If the game is profitable, it is logical to conclude that they will want to keep us around to make even more money. Now, as to the quality of the content, thus far it has proved very little work can earn them high rewards with this stupid grab bag content. Therefore, I suspect the content I posted above is now even further off as it requires time and investment, which means less profit to the company.
Now I figure that the more funds for cheap content will directly result in even more cheap content, which is not what the community to some portion and degree want. Therefore, until a boycott of the cheap content is put in place by the community for real results, no further real investment in the game is logically to be expected.
I think when I sign online tomorrow night, Im going to try and buy the market of lock boxes out, then have a ceremonial burning of the lock boxes. Maybe we can broadcast it on the zonechat that another lock box has been burned that might get the message across. Muahaha!
Anyway, Cheers to remaining optimistic that these added funds will mean some new improvements to the gameplay. In the words of Dr. McCoy, Dam good stuff that Romulan Ale!
hire new people would be the main hope. that way they can make more content, keep more people paying and buying and then hire even more people so we reach a stage where there is near constant things being released for the game.

Also, keep in mind that 'Budget' is a long term item... Any increase in income from the 'lock boxes' won't become apparent in the game for another 6 months or more, as that's as far ahead as 'Budge' planning has to cover.

This or other things.
The only thing to expect from STO is new grab bag events.
But seriously, they'll hire on some new content guys.
