Back to a game I never really left.

Well, I've come back to STO. Not because I've been on another MMO, medical reasons have kept me away.

So... What have I missed other than going FTP.

Will I still have all my gear and ships that I bought on the C-Store?

Last thing I did, was purchase the Nebula Class and hit Captain, back when the Nebula Class was released.

    You missed:
    - Virtually daily downtimes
    - Multiple server problems
    - A broken Featured episode came out this past weekend
    - No longer free ships
    - You pay a lot of real cash for things now
    - Up until this past weekend we had a year w/o content...

Pretty much an Asian MMO now you are playing.

Well, in all seriousness, here's some of what happened:

STF revamps (broken into space and ground portions, additional loot store on DS9)

Duty officer system (crew micromanagement and collection, quite fun)

Dilithium currency (replaces marks, exchangeable for c-points with other players)

Ship refit variants - Slightly improved versions of ships, each with a special console/ability that can be transferred to other ships - buy on c-store

New FE series started - Centered around ds9, first episode came out last weekend (pretty fun IMO)

All purchases you made should still be there. Keep in mind that if you got the T3 nebula through EC, don't discard it, as it's a c-store item now. You keep your old version but be careful about reclaiming.

Don't tell him the theme of the new FE. It hasn't been spoiler for him yet by ads and sneak peeks. You should edit part that out. Let him enjoy the twist.

I see I missed getting an Odyssey Class ship :-(

Please tell me that I can get one of these.

I've been a player of this game since release in Feb 2010 and the only reason I left was because of a broken neck. If I've missed the op to get this ship, i'll be gutted :-(

I will mention that the FE was not broken. I played it a few hours after it came out, but I played it on launch day, several times and it was never broken.

Dude. I am sorry to hear that. How did you break your neck? Do you have any lingering side-effects?

You cannot get the Odyssey any longer. It was an Anniversary-Only ship. Its was up in a Test Pilot Mission for ...four... days I think. There is all-but-confirmed C-Store +1 Variant in the works. We have seen images of it with Saucer Separation and a Special Mini-Escort-looking ship that detaches from the rear. No current release date.

    Thanks for the well wishes...

I got into a fight in a bar at my university. Guy was being a total **** to a woman, so I stepped in. I tried to restrain him, but he reversed it and broke my neck.

    Wasn't fun.

Not stressed about missing the Odyssey. Just gutted as I don't want to pay for it on C-Store.

    Thanks again guys.

Might start a new character tonight. :D

    Welcome back.

FYI, the new featured episodes can be run starting at level 9. If you're starting a new toon, try to get at least to lvl 9 so you can run it. No idea what the "special" reward is going to be for completing the FE on the initial release.

And, it's not broken per se. There are some annoying bugs in it (like engineers not being able to use some kit powers and abilities), but nothing that prevents you from completing it and collecting your reward.

Well I am glad that you can out the ordeal with relatively little damage (considering what a broken neck ~can~ do). Plus, hey, you go to look like the hero. That is somethin'.

The Odyssey is a variant on the Star Cruiser. It actually is called the 'Odyssey Star Cruiser'. It has higher Shields and Hull, but lower Turn Rate. It swaps an Engineering Bridge Officer Station for a Universal. Higher Shield and Auxiliary subsystems, lower Weapons and Engines. So, yeah, its not much different than the other Star Cruisers. You are not missing out on a Super Ship or anything.

    Cheers dude.

I might not be much, but it looks better than the other T5 ships.

I will give you that. I am especially fond of the saucerless version. I love the knife-head design.
