Weird Zone messages in chatboox

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Is anyone getting these when playing stf's? It appears as if these messages are coming from other stf's players raging at their team-mates from not doing the mission properly. If you ask me they don't sound genuine and there could be some sort scam hacking or something as I've never personally seen players that abusive. It don't bover me, but I just thought I'd mention it. Perhaps I should do a ticket thing. :)

    there are elitist snobs who think that F2Pers shouldnt be in any STF.... so i can totally see STF Zone chat like that if one player thinks its F2Pers doing that stuff.

    They probably use Zone because they think their teammates don't have Team chat active. Zone is the next best thing, and it has the pretty awful side effect of contaminating every instance, as Zone normally does.

    Odds are it's perfectly legit. Some people are just that whiny, or their teams are just that stupid to have to resort to that.

    I don't think this has anything to with being elitist or a player's account status. People really should not show up to elite missions if they don't know what's going on and are unwilling to listen to instructions.

    No one was born with infinite knowledge, so I highly doubt anyone is expecting their teammates to know everything and not make mistakes. However, if you don't know what to do, it won't kill you to ask. When your team asks, "does everyone know what to do?" or "does anyone not know what to do?" before an objective and you keep quiet, and cause the group to fail repeatedly, you really deserve what you get afterwards.

    There's nothing worse than being on infected in Rebecca's chamber with two guys who refuse to listen, respawn when they get knocked out, and then cause the whole group to have to reset. Actually, I lied... There's one thing worse, people who get locked out of a boss chamber two times in a row despite being warned that if they don't enter the room they're going to get locked out, then say, "I didn't know i was going to get locked out :'(." Like, really now?! REALLY?! You were warned, it happened once before, and then it just happened again. Do you really not learn?! Do you want us to call Q and ask him to take the shape of a giant clue?

    No doubt someone will think I'm mean for what I wrote, but it's true. If you're going to ignore every prompt, ignore the objective screen, ignore your teammates, and just run into every room and aggro every enemy you see without any kind of strategy or plan, why exactly aren't you just doing a solo mission instead of (inadvertently?) making problems for other people?

    @the OP:
    Not to be rude or anything but are you sure it wasn't your team members trying to get another team member's attention using zone chat? Personally, I've never seen any random messages in zone chat before.

    Both sides do stupid things. It's not just one or the other. Some people take charge when they have no business doing so, and/or will rage at the whole group for the slightest problem that crops up, irregardless of "who" is at fault for it. Others still rage because they simply assume everyone knows what to do. Both those who are in the know and those who aren't are guilty of not listening when someone DOES speak up as well as "Unsuccessfully dividing their attention".

    OP - Zone chat can come from other instances of the same zone, and thus zone chat often has a zone # attached to anyone using it. Looking at your mini-map, your zone number is listed right next to the map name, just above the map itself. If this is bleeding in from another zone, the chat box will have a number next to it [Zone #1]. If there is no number next to the word "Zone" in chat, then it's coming from your instance [Zone].

    Well, not to seem...disrespectful, but the easiest way to avoid it, is simply turn off your Zone chat. Even before F2P came out, long before really, I turned off my zone chat. Made life a whole lot easier for me.

    If you like it, that's your choice of course, but if you don't wanna see it...

    As for the reasons why, there's not much more I can say about it. Heck, I sometimes rage a bit too, having become an old 'war vet' of STFs, I know every mission like the back of my hand/claw/other appendage, so to have any group just run off and do whatever they wish, is annoying.

    P.S. I really would love them to release Into the Hive, not even for the rewards, just to have something DIFFERENT.
