First off before I begin I just want to say this may not be the right spot or thread for it so I apologize ahead of time to the moderators. First time on the forums so still getting a feel for it.
Second I've seen some hate posts but just want to say Thanks to the people at cryptic. I know a lot of things happen people don't like or agree with, in particular lately the boxes, its an enjoyable game and I know its not heard enough, but thanks for running a fun game for us.
Now to begin, I have been playing STO for about a month now and just saw a few observations I'd like to comment on myself and possibly request a small change too.
1. Currency system.
At the moment we have 3 types, Latinum, Dilithium, and E. Credits. Seems odd that Fuel is now a currency over latinum but I digress. I have noticed that E. Credits are plentiful.. In fact so plentiful you can't spend them, unless on the exchange or customizing your ship's appearance and personal appearance which only goes so far then you need cryptic points. The only other source is Dabo for Latinum. Now to Latinum, its a canon form of currency if I remember correctly yet I don't see anything you can spend them on besides the holo emiters and duty missions. Dilithium, the hardest currency to gather seems to be the one that you need to get well... everything...
The proposal I had was what if we removed dilithium and kept Latinum and Energy Credits. Have a latinum exchange for the cryptics and everything purchased with dilithium would be done by Latinum. Brings a purpose into Latinum and spends those Credits you can't seem to spend. Even raise costs on devices since latinum can be jsut gambled for. Cryptic points wouldn't be affected since after a short time well you run out of cryptics to circulate on the exchange unless some one is purchasing and selling them.
2. Keys
With the complaint's about the keys, what if it was possible to buy a more then one time use master key for some kind of outrageous one time price or maybe make the keys worth like 20k credits a piece. Still gets a way to spend those credits. Also keeps the free option free unless you bankrupt on credits.
3. Ships
I didn't see much of the series or all the movies but the ones I did see I remember seeing more ships of different species. Xindi, Suliban, even Vulcan and Andorian ships. I know theres currently one or 2 vulcan ships but maybe add different variants? Possibly introduce them into the federation side for different levels or different categories.. Kind of like how Klingon has siege cruisers and carriers.. Perhaps something of that nature that for Federation side?
4. Levels / Experience
Over the course of a month, only able to play n the weekends really besides duty officers during the weeks to do while at school or work, I was able to reach level 50 in a period of 3ish weeks. Kinda seems to quick or easy. Perhaps maybe make it harder to level after level 10 or perhaps add more ranks. I'm only just starting the Cardassian story too and majority of my levels all came from the episode missions. A level a mission nearly, so there is enough content for the story, which I do happen to enjoy thus far.
5. Space flight
Given its space flight and ships have the artificial gravity, would it be plausible to allow ships to go upside down or go straight up and down, or do back flips? Although not a huge significance at all, it does allow a few different tactical strategies and just the "cool factor" that some games don't allow like BGO. Although I could see control difficulties with it, but just a thought.
Thats pretty much all I have on the table at the moment, and would gladly appreciate any feed back or thoughts on this. Thanks much for the time and consideration.

2: The keys issue has been debated to death, IMO, so I'll skip that one.
3: I know they plan on introducing a T5 escort Andorian ship this year. There might be other ship as well. It all depends on what CBS is willing to approve.
4: The game does level too fast right now. This has more to do with lack of Mission content then anything else. Prior to Season 5/FTP the game required a lot more grinding to meet level requirements for the next Mission. I assumed Cryptic thought that would be considered boring on so chose to give faster leveling so that there are more Missions to play at end-game.
5: The image of Star Trek is tall ships on the sea. That has always been the image and there aren't more then a handful of examples on screen what that is not seen to be the case in 726 episodes and 10 movies. The space combat choice is a visual style thing.
