Bajor ?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
hate to ask ... but is this big planet in the Bajor System supposed to be the Bajoran Homeworld or some other planet in the system ... ?

kind of looks like the one with the Hutts, Javas and Tusken Raiders ...

Hopefully this will change with the "Of Bajor" Mission next Saturday, don't want to beam down to Tatooine :P , because it's kind of odd warping to Bajor at the end of "Second Wave" seeing some Desert Planet

Not sure what planet in the system it's meant to be. It certainly isn't Bajor itself that's for sure.

i'd never thought about that, but your correct.

this is what bajor is supposed to look like:

Its probably not Bajor. Since there is no ground map for it, they're probably holding off on releasing the actual planet until it becomes a social zone.

I'm actually wondering why Bajor and DS9 are in separate maps and visually nowhere near each other, as it's always been established that DS9 was in orbit of Bajor (to my knowledge). Or did they move it during the course of the show?

Ds9 moved from Bajors orbit to the wormhole in the first episode of the series. Its a 'few hours' trip from bajor to Ds9.

Wasn't it the first or second episode of the show when they moved the station away from Bajor and closer to the mouth of the wormhole? If its wasn't one of those episodes then it was definitely the third one.

In any case, it was moved away from orbit which is why it cannot be seen anymore.

Sorry DS9 moved to the wormhole during the first episode ... not being in Bajor's orbit anymore ... so that actually makes sense

Um yes it was moved closer to the wormhole BUT it is still in the Bajor system. So I wish in game they were in the same zone just on the far side of the map

It took 3 hours by shuttle at impulse speed to go from DS 9 to Bajor. That really wouldn't fit in a Bajor map, IMO.

Yep. Three hours at full impulse would make Bajor into a little dot on the horizon, indistiguishable from any other star. So they don't belong in the same map. It also makes perfect sense that you can't even see it from the station.

I made a similar comment on the episode threads.

When Bajor was opened up when the Diplomacy Missions went in, I thought it was one of the other plants in the Bajor System. But this episode pointed out that planet actually was Bajor.

In my Foundry mission for the UGE contest, I used the proper M-class World with White Clouds and Blue oceans, not sure why Cryptic decided Bajor should all of a sudden become this gloomy looking world years after the Dominion War (which wasn't even touched in the war).

Ya, I agree. Not sure how it happened (wasn't here), but I'm not happy with how the Bajor System looks, and am hoping to get some time to address it this week. Not in time for Ep 1 launch, but hopefully in time for Ep 2.

My goals: Bajor should be blue and green, much like earth. Represent several of Bajor's moons, especially the two you can see from the ground . . .

I'll also say I will be replacing the sky in the Bajor system with the same used in the updated DS9 maps. i.e. small, bright sun, black sky, fewer stars, faint purple Denarius belt.

Sounds good. Looking forward to episode 2. (not just because Bajor's getting fixed :D)

By the way, there is a Bajor asset in the Foundry. Blue and green with city lights.

"Planet Bajor" with Blues and Greens?

Mind revealing how you turned the "Planet Bajor" model from a desert world into a world with Blues and Greens?

Because of that model being like that, I got rid of it for my Foundry Mission and used Class M #13. Looked closer to Bajor than the other models, even though the continents were off.

    Psst its Denorios Belt. ;)

(Gotcha back for the Work Bees correction. :p)

They moved the station from 160 million kilometers during the first show of DS9 to be near the entrance of the wormhole. Form comparison the distance from the Earth to the the sun is roughly 149 million KM.

Trip wasn't anywhere near full impulse. The station only 6 working thrusters at the time. 160,000,000 KM in 3 hours is 0.05 percent the speed of light. Full Impulse at that point in time was 80% the speed of light.

They created some kind of subspace field to enable moving the station faster than it normally could, IIRC.

You might say they..... used a Mass Effect field.
