Thank You Cryptic

I posted this in another thread, but I wanted to max my chance of Cryptic seeing this and hopefully start a thread where people who enjoyed the mission can come and talk. So:

"After Zone Chat exploded with comments that the mission was broken and players were unable to play, I started to fear the worst. I've only had 3 issues with STO with only one happening more than once, so I may just be lucky, but I would like to think that it simply shows that the 'bugs' are just more random happenings or the result of players trying to use unconventional tactics (not accusing anybody, but we all know there are a subset of players who will exploit and issue to get ahead).

So, I make my way to DS9 and my framerate starts to slip. I begin to feel a bit of dread that I won't be doing the new tonight. Then, I see THE ENTIRE POPULATION OF EARTH HAS LOGGED ON and are trying to do the new mission. I think to myself, 'well, there's your problem' and attempt to set the mission off. The mission starts up fine, first time with no hang or lag. The voice overs and scenes all played well with good voice acting and no issues moving around DS9.

I enjoyed all the interactions with the diplomats, doing all the optional stuff and having no problems at all. The voiceovers again were good and really helped the missions and no issues ever popped up. The conference itself was a little hammy, with some of the emotes from the NPC being a little OTT, but given that this is Star Trek I figure if I'm going to pick at it for bad acting, then everything we are doing right now is pointless!

The ground combat section worked like a treat. I managed to do the engineering career side path and let the person out. The combat was hard as I only had a Security and the Gorn geezer helping me, but it wasn't impossible by any stretch.

The space combat was crazy. When I got out there and saw all the escape craft flying away, beams flying all over the place it made it feel like a fleet action without the need for a fleet. It felt like a scramble to get away and once my gung ho attitude fell and I realised I wasn't going to win, the escape was fun, even if it did feel a little slower paced than what had come before.

All in all, I thought this was the best one yet. The voice overs and cut scenes were, in comparison to the rest of the game, some of the highest quality stuff we have seen. The mission gave you enough to know what is going on and leave you wanting more without feeling like the mission was short. If finished on a logical 'TV' finishing point and not once did I see any tech issues.

I know I only speak for myself and yeah, maybe I was lucky, but I pay my £10 a month to play this game willingly because of things like this. It's a great episode for a great series and while I'm sorry some had a bad experience, some of the critisism for this mission is completely over the top and outlandish. I'm a big picture guy and I know what kind of limits and issues Cryptic have been up against for the last year and I'd like to think I'm smart enough to know that chances are those limits and issues were not magically beamed away by PWE. Yeah, I expect things to grow and get better over the next year, but I'm perfectly satisfied with the game as it is now and this mission has justified my £10 for this month and the next.

Well done guys."

That's my feedback. Thanks to the Cryptic guys for putting out what I feel was a strong episode and a great start to the arc.

Please, don't turn this thread into a hate thread. Seriously, just don't do it guys.

I haven't had a chance to play the new content yet, and I'm sure you're correct in saying some of the criticism is a bit ott. The part of your post that stuck out to me was that you are happy with the way things are. I've been away from this game for about a year, I've recently come back, and there has been no new content added, from what I can see. The last FE was over a year ago. How are you happy paying for that? If you're paying to play, should you not be demanding more?

If he's happy with what he's getting? No, he shouldn't be demanding more.

There are those of us that understand the concept of transition. Financial uncertainty. Sold by one company, bought by another, old plans scrapped, new plans made, expectations changing, people you knew going away, people you don't know moving into the cube next to yours, and so on.

Those of us who continued to buy into Cryptic's game, whether it be via the monthly sub or the lifetime sub and occasional C-Store purchase, understand that periods of corporate transition are a pain in the TRIBBLE and can hold things up. We get labeled as apologists for possessing both understanding and patience. It's really quite funny when you think about it.

We get ridiculed for behaving the way decent human beings are expected to behave in the real world.

Well I am a lifetimer so don't assume that because I havent been around for a while means I haven't continued to buy into cryptics game. I was asking him a question, not you. Why you feel it necessary to imply I'm not a "decent" human being, while answering for him, without his permission, I don't know.
To expect a games company to give you new content more regularly than every 12 months is a norm. To expect customers to put up with a lower service than expected, no matter what type of company it is, because things are "changing" is not the norm.
I respect other people's opinions and like to ask questions. If youve got a problem with that, ignore me.

That defense doesn't really work. If one truly understood the concept of transition, like Doug Collins coach of the Philadelphia 76ers does with his transition defense, you would see that Cryptic is getting killed in the transition game and other companies can do it better.

I for one am happy with the mission too, I can't wait to see what happens next... Sorry trolls but some people can be happy with this game believe it or not. There is also plenty of great community authored stuff if all you want is story content.

I enjoyed seeing over two and a half thousand instances created while still being able to play lag free.

While I take offence at being labelled a troll for no apparent reason, I do agree that the community authored stuff is quite good. I had a go at a couple and thought it was a good feature.
I'm also happy that others are pleased with how the game is ATM, I'm just asking why having no new content for a year is something you are content with. That us all. I don't believe that is trolling.

I too enjoyed the new episode with zero trouble. I won't comment on other stuff in this thread as it would be rude to the OP and off topic. I am looking forward to replaying the mission and getting the other Jem Hadar weapon. Thanks for the mission Cryptic.

Ok I played it now, and I know I'm going to get moaned at for saying this, but it was very poor indeed. Hopefully the next one will be better.
