Well the FE banner is the first one to load, so it's also the first one you see. The C-Store ad doesn't until you actually log in.
That said, while I can't say it bothers me, it seems odd that they wouldn't slap it on the front page ASAP after release. Hopefully come Monday there'll be enough people at the office to do it.
I guess you haven't been around long enough to know how cryptic does these sorts of things....u get some crumbs (new episodes..abit very buggy ones)...but the real money is in the c-store.

Been out of the game for awhile I take it?
I've been here and in the forums since launch, albeit not before launch.
And with the other FEs, they always had them be the first banner on the Client and the website.. Even the banner in the forums would change..
Only thing that bothers me is since I downloaded this from steam the friday night last week and I used two purchases from my steam wallet, finally found a way to use the money I had sitting idle in my wallet for the past couple years. I go to buy more credits to get the better deal of 10 keys for 900 c-credits and what do I get, I get directed to the webpage to buy xen points or what ever their called to put in some other companies wallet to buy items from. I just find it bothering that I used it this morning to buy 10 keys and now 12 hours latter the steam wallet option isnt even avaliable anymore.
Looks like Cryptic wont be getting anymore money from me since I will not dump money into a wallet when I dont spend much for game play in the first place.

You DO realize that ZEN are PWE's virtual currency, and that PWE owns Cryptic, right? So, no, you're NOT putting money in another company's wallet.
That today we got a new FE, but the main website still has the C-Store Ad as it's main focus?
Also the Launcher, the C-Store ads/links are bigger than and focused more on than the New FE..
Doesn't this go to show PWEs priorities and bother anybody else?
I can honestly say that I had not noticed. When I look at it, I usually focus on the Update Bar and the Engage Button. Most of the time I pick up the book that I keep on my desk and read while the game patches and loads. Some times I forget that there even ARE other items on the Launcher.
As for the site, my bookmark goes straight to this forum. Likewise, I do not know what is on the main page.
Yeah, it does bother me... Perhaps buying something in the C-Store will make me feel better.
hA HA. Funny.
They really should promote things more.
The new FE is not half bad and I was even able to complete it with my VC using my captain's yacht. Once again I was role playing as I was on "vacation" and visiting DS9 for the talks as a request during my interrupted vacation on Risa. And yes, I died a heck of a lot and lost multiple AI ships before the attack was over.
Unfortunately, that ship choice worked to my disadvantage(like the thread I made that got deleted explaining how role playing did not work for an optional mission). Oh well.

It doesn't bother me too much, since Cryptic must get a lot of money for content creation from the C-Store it makes sense for the focus to be there. Since this is the first FE to come out in nearly a year everybody will know about it so doesn't need much advertising
This. I don't understand this true intentions business. If PWE and Cryptic wanted cash that bad, why give the whole game away F2P?
some people get put off by the idea of paying a sub, so they never play at all. when they can play for free they feel much happier spending some money as they please as they feel it gives them more control. even if they ultimately end up spending more money than the sub itself. some wont spend any money at all but thats a risk you take. the number of people that play the game now is huge, so you take your chance that the amount of people offsets the free part.
even if people on average start spending less because of the lack of sub, you hope that the increase in people will create more overall.
as a very rough concept do you want 100k of people spending $15 a month or 400k of people spending $7.

Its a different company now, the game is F2P, if they don't sell stuff the game will go under. So expect most news, adverts and alerts to be about how awesome the stuff they are selling is.

Well, at least the forum banner isn't an ad for the C-Store yet...
I suppose I'll regret saying this some day.
Don't give them any ideas..

Thank the Prophets for small favors, eh?
the launcher has several pictures. the largest is the ad for the next FE which is larger than all the c-store ads put together.

I look forward to the other four anyway.
