Why am I, who subscribes and pays to play, being put in a waiting line to play the game? Why in the Hell should I pay? I just cancled my subscription!

It is in the F2P matrix...

I was in the Que a couple times even before today. I think I spent a whole 30 seconds in the Que's.

how long did you have to wait?

even though golds get priority log in, you still have to compete with other golds also in queues from time to time. if they have hit capacity then you still have a wait, but the wait should not be that long.

canalling your sub will mean you have much longer waits from now on.

    I agree with Revo.

I originally intended to reply by saying that waiting a short time for a queue is not even worth a forum post. If you had to wait half an hour or even a full hour, now that would be something different. Since you did not give a clear indication on how long your waiting time was, then it's hard for us to sympathize / disagree with you.

But then again: if you go to a store and have to go outside, you also have to wait in line. It's a part of life!

I've waited in the queue twice, as a lifer. The first time was less than two seconds, and today, I was in the queue less than five. Yes, Golds/Lifers get priority login, but sometimes there really IS no more room at the inn.

I've never had to queue once before F2P, but have now done so on several occasions. I use the premiere of "The Vault" Episode as a good comparison. Practically 100% of the quite numerous population back then hit the servers virtually all at once - no queueing. Really, it is not acceptable.

It's possible, with all the new/returning Silvers, that a queue may be currently unavoidable.

Heck, might even be good... if Cryptic can go to PW and say "Look, here are the numbers; we've got so many trying to play we have to put in a queue", they just might get the funds for server upgrades.

queue waiting time wasnt long for f2p players and even shorter for gold members, i see no issue there, and its a good solution to ensure stable gaming experience for everybody instead of letting everyone connect at once and ruin instance performance this way.

Personal Note: i think OP is an Antedean

Yep. I'm a Silver and I was 1790 in a queue of 1871. I waited about 6 minutes. It doesn't bother me. In fact, I can see the queue and go "Ooh! I'm going to go grab a Pepsi real quickly before I log in!". See? It has uses! :D

They do. Lifers and Gold members get top queue. In a queue of 1800, a Gold member might be in the group of 30 gold members from 1 to 30, while 31 to 1800 are all silver. When another lifer or Gold member logs in, they get bumped up to the front of the queue with the other Gold/Lifers. The Silvers get pushed back. That is how the queue works. That is fair to everyone.

Plus, keep in mind that Silvers can also be paying customers. That $15 a month gets used up rather quickly in the C-Store. Buy a few bank slots, some costumes, maybe a bridge pack, some lock box keys, and you're at $15. So it's not like all of the Silvers are freeloading. That's an image that needs to go out the airlock.

As a Lifer I've never been in a queue more then 30 seconds so far. My Silver friends tend to run 2-8 minutes when the servers are busy.

STO went F2P because subscribers couldnt sustain the game. Silver players are the main paying customers, funding the game through microtransactions.

I had to wait twice, the first time a message box popped up and all I could read was sorry..... before the game launched... the second time the message lasted long enough that I could read 21/700+ and then it loaded....
    2-3 seconds tops..
    not a problem.

I have no idea what you guys are complaining about. I had 2 ques today. Both times I was in the top 10 out of a few hundred. Last one I was 9 out of 347. That means the priority system is working, and that the 8 people a head of me were also gold members. I also got in 2-3 seconds after being qued.

Oh boohoo. You aren't better than us or entitled to a thing and you will deal with it with everybody else. I don't see anyone else whining about it on the forums.

Yes, this attitude needs to be spaced out an airlock--straight into the path of a quantum torpedo. Any takers?

Same here (although I was queued last week twice). Being able to move to the front of the queue does not mean avoiding it entirely.

And, if you remember and will be honest, the servers crashed for several, several hours on the day The Vault was released. Here's the thread. I'll take the wait, thanks.

Since F2P Launch, I've had to queue three or four times and never for more than 60 seconds. I can live with that.

You really have no clue what your talking about. The reason it went pay to win, is that's PW's way of gaming. Nothing else. Enjoy buying Keys ......

Not if he never plays again lol...

I have yet to hit one of these Ques. Probably due to the hours I am generally on and that I do not rush to get to new content. I have not heard anyone complain that they are unreasonably long. What I hate is TRYING to log into DS9...

Hmm...I present in rebuttal of that argument at least games that have gone F2P because it's proven to be a more successful and profitable model than P2P.

    LotRO, DCUO, D&D Online...

FYI: His argument was that it went F2P. Disregarding his argument by substituting "pay to win" is absurd.

Golds and lifers could opt to be on redshirt server, silvers only allowed on holodeck. Would make playing the STF's alot better too. :) Just a thought.

Yeah, STFs would certainly be better with someone who just decided to play the game 2 weeks ago, and paid a subscription to get Gold benefits, as opposed to a Silver player who's done hundreds of them over the last months/years but has decided not to pay the subscription fee anymore.

as a lifer I have been in the que system..and despite it saying I was 99th out of 300 it only took 4 -6 seconds before I was let into the game. Not 100% sure but i think golds work the same as the lifers. You might be in the que but it is usually only for a few seconds.

So far the login queues for this game have been nothing
The longest I waited as Silver was 3 minutes. The longest queue I was ever in was during WoWs Burning Crusade launch ... 2.5 hours and that wasnt even the longest I heard about

A few minutes is nothing .. 15 minutes would be an annoyance maybe
I'll hold my complaints for if it reaches 30 minutes+ here

Anyone complaining about queues for this game have never waited in a real queue before

Some of the attitudes on display in this thread sicken me. "I pay gold, therefore Im better than you and deserve more than you". I'm sad for the human race today.

No business is perfect, we all have to take the rough with the smooth. Deal with it or get lost.

Don't you know? Money instantly makes you good at something! $15 a month gives you super skills, yo!
