The Galor's that are for sale in the exchange are selling for roughly 200 million.
Some scammer has put x4 Galor Holo Emitters that you could get with GPL from playing DABO for sale on the exchange and they show up with the ships.
If you do a search on the exchange for Galor they come up with the real ships and it is obvious the scammer has placed them there and priced them in such a way as to take advantage of someone who is not so observant.
The sad part of this is in other MMO's such practices are considered legal.
If anyone thinks it appropriate and wants to lodge a complaint about it with Cryptic Management please feel free to do so.
For the rest of you who read this thread consider this a heads up warning.
Didn't they remove the galor holoemitters from Dabo just recently? If so, then wouldn't these be collector's items?
If you look at the way this person layered the pricing you can see how the most expensive Holo Emitter is priced at exactly the same price as the ship. 190 million. The other three are much cheaper. If your perceptive and look at what I am taking about you can tell that he did it that way to help add to the illusion.
I am not new to MMO's. I played Linage II for years and become among the most well know players on my shard stricly because I was a very successful merchant in the game market. I was filthy rich and players prefed to just come straight to me and deal with me personally in game. That is where I got my experience. As a merchant you have no choice but to become very familiar with scams.
I have known people who have fallen for this scam and the fact that it is happening here at STO is a given when you consider there is an active real world market for electronic credits. Some of you may laugh at the idea that someone might fall for this call anyone who does fall for it stupid and deserving of what they get, but the fact is it can happen to anyone no matter how intelligent and observant they think they are.

It says "holoemitter" right in the item name on the exchange. Unless you can't read, in which case you have more serious problems than this, there's no excuse for falling for this. I discovered it last night and actually laughed.

Pretty much this... its not scamming.. more like lack of reading skill on those who fall for this...

Reminds me of people on ebay who scream scam because they didn't read that instead of bidding on a high priced electronics item, they were bidding on the box it came in. It was right there in the description.

Or the people on ebay who scream scam because they weren't bidding on a high priced electronics item, they were bidding on an invitation to a private auction of a high priced electronics item. Idiots.
Cryptic or the Player scams you... Is there a big difference? Oh, well yes... I suppose there is considering one says what it actually is and the other does not...

Is there any honest reason why you would want to sell the box of a high priced electronics item?
Is there any honest reason to sell a Holo-Emitter of a Galor for the same price as the Galor?
I don't really think so. Part of any scam relies on the target falling for some trick. Nigerian Scams are still scam, even if the orthography and grammar are abysmal and the story is far-fetched.

I didn't say it was a good thing to do. However a scam involves someone lying to you in order to get goods or money from you. In the case of the ebay and in the exchange, it's not a scam because it clearly says what you are getting for your money. It's just that people were to lazy to read it properly. So they have no one to blame but themselves.
Look, its not nice, and as far as I'm concerned the people posting these things are scum bags, but its not the kind of thing you can legislate. What you can do, though, is educate people not to be fooled, which is actually a good idea.
that is idiots trying to scam and cryptic needs to remove them no one has that kind of credits
There are lots of people with high credits it was even stated by some devs that some players had reached over 2 billion energy credits before the conversion. Even with the conversion most players who had that much planned ahead and made preparations to keep most of them so those people who played the exchange have no problem getting anything new that comes along thats sellable in the exchange.
