Despite being RA (42) I don't feel as if my character is progressing any... yes I can see my level go up, yes I can see my damage numbers go up..but it just feels as if I'm treading water.
The mob scaling is like an Oblivion nightmare. In other games I 'have the option' of going to lower level areas to see just how easier the mobs are with my new kit/levels, but in this game I don't.
Because of the constant mob scaling I don't have the ability to quanitify my incremental increases in power and because of that inability I don't see any noticable difference in my game from Lt (1) to my current.
I, personally, feel that this is sapping my enjoyment of the game... not because "OMG ahm leet now,lolz11111", but simply because it feels like I'm staying at a constant level.
I have to admit.. I don't like that.... I like to be able to tell the difference in power levels, and I simply don't.
Just one more thing that prevents me from mostly enjoying the game, as opposed to it being ok sometimes.
It's a shame, with everything else that's wrong with the game.. it could have been so much better.
Some games just don't fit the needs of some people. That's why there are several hundreds different MMOs to play. If we all liked the same type of game we'd all only be playing WoW.

With everything else that's wrong with the game.. a lack of a feeling of progression is the last thing it needs.

What one person hates, another dislikes, a third doesn't mind, and a fourth loves. The game probably just isn't for you - even though you wanted it to be.
Get in one of your low level ships, even better the starter ship, leave the starter gear in it, play a mission of your level. Then you'll see how the loss of BO powers and everything else makes a difference. Your 'power' really comes from the extra options and abilities your boffs and better kits give you.

I have the exact opposite problem.
The Mobs get easier as I level up and learn the tricks of each encounter.
There are places you can go to experience lower level Mobs. Try Kerrat in Eta Eridanni in the Warzone of Klingon Pillagers.
As a general rule there are quite a few missions that scale to a specific Mob level. The various Borg invasion dailies all have different level Borg Mobs depending on which sector your in when you push the big red alert announcement..

There IS a place you can go to clean up some poor lower level Mobs lol... Check out the Deep Space Encounters (Those little red spheres hanging out in sector space). If you go into ones where lower level folks generally do missions they will be notably weaker than you and you can pretty much annihilate them.
As you get the last level of ships you will also see a bump in ability, versatility, and overall power. It is a bit less noticeable on the ground however.

You DO realize that these kind of answers " fit " every single post that critizises something about STO?
How about discussing things instead of constantly telling people (in a roundabout way or blunt) to quit the game? Is this the only advice you have for anybody?

kerrat wasnt intended like that and i still think its a bug, that they all turned into a level1-zombies.. at least i hope so, otherwise it just feels wrong..
but i didnt recognize that theres a lvl difference between the redalerts, cause it always felt like depending on the teams performance if we win or lose against the big unit..

I only recently found out about the difference in Borg Levels depending on which sector block you respond to the ALERT in.
The Orelleius Block has the toughest Borg at level 53.
In any case its always going to depend on the players expertise no matter what when it comes down to determining difficulty.

I'm a firm believer in the idea that if someone doesn't like something they should spend their energy elsewhere rather then spending their life feeling angst for doing something they do not like to do. The whole point of a hobby is to make you happy, not angry or depressed. The best choice people can make in life is to know when to walk away rather then let something pull you even further into the angst abyss - that goes for hobbies, employment, relationships, and everything else in this world.
STO is a game which changes slowly. If someone is unhappy with it then take a break. Come back in 6 months or a year. I've left dozens of games over the last decade. Many of them I've gone back to many time to see if they've changed enough to keep my interest. Some have and some haven't. Either way I'm not going to go through life letting my hobby make me free like TRIBBLE. YMMV

So instead of trying to change things that you dislike you'd just walk away? Like you stop playing STO, quit your job, end your marriage, emigrate your country? Pal, you can take a break from a game but not from your job, marriage or citizenship.
I definietely dislike the philosophy you are spreading around here. If people would always take a break or just walk away if something is wrong, the world would have gone down the drain long before the area of MMOs.

There are many marriages which last far longer then they should because people aren't willing to know when it's not working out - and both parties are miserable, and often scarred from it. I know many people who hate their job but are too afraid to change and are miserable. Maybe you're lucky and have never been in that position or know someone in that position, but I doubt you're in the majority there.
I would rather walk away from a game I dislike then spend all my time feeling bad because I don't like it. Again, YMMV.
