We have our ups and downs. Most people try to be helpful no matter where we fall on the love/like/dislike/hate scale. :)

if someone requires actual help then people will try and help them as best they can.

an argument will probably then break out on how best to help them but thats a different story. ;)

Say something like "Archer was by far the best Trek captain" in zone chat and watch their true nature emerge.

Better for Archer to be married to T'pol in an alternate future then Kirk married to Spock. :)

Not at all. It's obviously Janeway. ;)
Or the Doctor if his ECH time counts.

Yeah, only if you dislike the prime directive and the space time continuum.

    omg...see what you started.

I think that applies to anyone liking Archer, Kirk, Picard, or Sisko too. :)

    But...not The Doctor!

well, that's cuz he is. Archer was the first to "...boldly go where no man has gone before". he made many first contacts with new civilizations. April, Pike, Kirk, Garth, Tracey and the rest came after

Well by THAT logic, we should go with Zefram Cochrane. He was the first human to experience warp travel, and made the first first contact with a new civilization.

Plus, what's not to like about having a cynical alcoholic as an idol? :)

And a tribble. People love to give out tribbles.

Just NEVER mix tribbles and food items in your inventory. Or else....you will see firsthand how to make MORE tribbles...

Things you can say to get noticed in Zone Chat:

"Star Trek V is the best Trek movie"

"Enterprise is the best Trek series"

"Voyager is the best Trek series"

"JJ Trek is the best Trek movie"

    "Where's Sulu"

I try to help whenever I can in-game and out. I enjoy helping others, teaming up and helping with missions, and generally supporting the community in the best way I can. In doing that, I've started a Let's Play STO series, which you can watch on my youtube channel below, in my signature. It will help new players to STO learn the game, and figure out how to gear up and so forth. I'm playing through every episode in the game, and will fully be covering the new FE every Saturday with a video.

Am I cynical and angry and do I essentially hate the development team here now?
    Yes.

Do I enjoy helping new or lost players?
    Absolutely even more yes.

Just because I hold the developers to an extremely high, painful, and no-excuses standard doesn't mean I'd ever be mean to any player willing to be civil.

Depending on the players that notice such statements, they may also subject the player to intense, scathing ridicule and gales of laughter.

I like to think that Trekkies are the most compassionate and understanding people, out of any SCIFI genre. We have a tenancy to be helpful and pull together. I like this fact about Trek's fans.

Not a heated topic at all. Clearly the best Captain was Kirk. :D
    *dons away team equipment.

I try to be helpful. It's just in my nature. I don't like to see anyone in any sort of distress be it confused on a topic, or in need of help.
