That was my first impression too. It really makes you think about things in terms of how insignificant we are in the grand uber scale of the universe.
Specially when you factor in that from here to Pluto it takes 70+ years, could you imagine how many generations it would take to get to the outer rim of what we know about the universe

I personally dont think the size of the universe has anything to do with our significance. An oasis in the middle of a desert is pretty significant regardless of how big the desert is.
Actually I didn't know if I should very small or very big.
Thanks for posting this Brandon. Seen something like that before in school. But it's still pretty fascinating.

The universe is incredible! Even though it's my field of study, the size of astronomical objects keeps impressing. The smallest dwarf star is mindbogglingly gigantic compared to the human scale, and yet it looks like a grain of dust compared to giant stars like Arcturus!
For example, the Orion Nebula (my subject of study) is located a thousand light years from Earth... but it's still twice as big as the moon in the sky! (It's just really faint, you either need good binocular or a telescope to see it.)
Wow, thats so awesome! The scale of the universe is just astronomical lol. No way we can be alone, it would be awfully a waste of space! Thanks for showing!
Yeah I have seen that one recently too. Star evolution is fascinating, its interesting to know how much of a range of different size stars there are as well.

You can also download a 'digital universe' to fly around in...it blew my mind when I first saw it.
It's in HD, so switch it to full screen.

Thanks a lot for sharing this with us Brandon!

Thanks for the wonderful link!
This is why we need to solve how to make warp drive work.
anyone who sees this and thinks we are alone in the universe is an ego maniac or mentally ill
