Just wondering who will go out to see this movie again in 3D, or maybe it's your 1st time seeing it. Yes, there are people out there that never seen star wars at all. lol No really I mett a few.
So will you go see it?
and if you did what did you think? Of the 3D effects I mean.
I didn't like the prequels and I can't see 3D, so . . . nope.
Eaxctly the dsame deal for me.
Even and far as the OT is concerned:
- I LOVE the original Star Wars (sans the later added "A New Hope" title)
- Liked The Empire Strikes Back
- Didn't care for Retrurn of the Jedi (Space Teddy Bears with slings and wooden arrows can take out fully armored Storm Troopers and high tech weapons....I want what George was smoking when he wrote that.)
As for the Prequels - visually stunning in spots, but nothing that I wanted to see more than once just to see what George did,
I didn't realize until after I was married that my while wife had seen parts of the movies (which explains her very butchered attempts to quote "I am your father" ) she has never seen ANY of them all the way through.
Also my stepdaughter has never seen any of them on the big screen.
Add that to the fact that Lucas has stated he is developing and releasing them in 3D, one at a time, in chronological order. And that whether the others get released depend on the response to how these do.
I will be seeing them then so that:
1) My wife gets to see them and no longer embarrass me.
2) My stepdaughter gets to experience SW on the big screen (even if it is just TPM)
3) I will eventually get to see the OT in 3D on the Big Screen.
So I will be seeing them, but out of more altruistic reasons than a desire to see the pod race in 3D.
Although that and the Maul fight will probably be worth the ticket.
I'll see Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back in theaters, probably. *Possibly* Return of the Jedi, depending on my mood.
But I dunno. I might skip all. It's not that I have an issue with 3D (when done well I think it's very nice; when done badly it makes me ill) in and of itself. It's that the movies resemble the movies I fell in love with less and less with each release.
I have DVDs and Blu-Rays of the Original Trilogy, but to be honest if I feel in the mood to watch them, I usually pull out the crappy, non-anamorphic, non-digital-surround DVDs of the unaltered OT. I actually have ripped them to my video server, with the letterboxing cropped so that they properly expand on the screen (they don't FILL it; there's still letterboxing as they are not 16x9 movies, but the pillarboxing is gone). So I can watch them in about as good a condition as can be done. Han shoots first, Ewoks don't blink, Vader doesn't scream "NOOOOOO" before saving Luke, and so on.
The sad thing is I like a lot of the SE changes. Cleaning it up, re-doing effects, adding background stuff...I'm all for that. I was/am a huge fan of the TOS Remastered project (and fully acknowledge where it worked and where it fell a bit short). I love stuff like that. But...if I really wanted to watch original TOS without the changes, I can do that. Also, TOS Remastered didn't make plot-based changes, and that is what I have a problem with.
So...I may just pass altogether. As fun and immersive as a well-done 3D presentation might be, the other stuff will just annoy me all over again.
Oh, and no way will I go see Eps 1-3. Can't imagine ever seeing those again unless I want to show the entire set of 6 to...I dunno, maybe a grandchild someday.
Wow I thought my wife was the only hater. lol I was told if I drag her off to see any of the SW films on the big screen, I will have to pay for it later on. The look and tone of voice was all I had to get. Now my boys might dig it, seeing how they are still very young, but I am not sure if I really want to deal with the Jar jar mesa thins and mesa that again. lol
BTW, thank you for this. I don't really enjoy the prequels, but I couldn't figure out why exactly until I watched this. Characters, characters, characters.
will i watch it? nope. why? i have already seen the films.
this 3d attempt is the latest attempt at money making without doing anything new, sounds like a scam in my book.
Just curious: what exactly is the scam? They are in fact doing something new: the movie is in 3D. It wasn't before. It seems to me, that a scam would be that they give you something other than what you pay for, or nothing at all.
I completely understand that you are tired of paying to see the same movie over and over. That is reasonable. However, I'm not sure that makes it a scam.

A lot of people dont actually understand the meaning of the words they use. I'd call it a money grab, but it isnt a "scam" for the reasons you mentioned.
Probably not. Though I like SW, including the prequels, I don't care for 3D and I don't care for Lucas's "improvements". I'll be getting my Star Wars fix through SWTOR.

Pretty much sums it up and a good laugh lol

If you are talking to me... yea... I am...
Took a few red bulls but I finally managed to stay awake for the entire movie... Same goes for the other 5.

Yeah, it doesn't convince me either.
I would watch a reimagination of the prequels, e.g. the prequels done better.

Same for me. I can not get my eyes to see 3D. Just blury red & green colours.
