my screen states the exchange is down... but prior to that, I had the same issues. However, look in your history log. Mine shows transactions still posting.

    Could be sheer trade volume.

Cynically, it's no stretch to imagine Cryptic want to encourage folk to spend real money on keys by disabling the only 'in game' way of earning them.

It might be that they were in the process of taking it down while you were posting. That may have to do with the fact we weren't inflating the prices.

Hi Captains. The team is aware of the Dilithium Exchange being a little finicky today and is watching it closely. Thanks for your patience.

    Cheers,

C-Points from the Exchange come from real money anyway... just someone else's real money.

    True that.

But the C-Points sat on the unavailable DilEx have already been paid for. And if the target audience are sufficiently influenced by the EVERYBODY'S GOT GALORS spam they're not going to wait until it's re-enabled.

You know, one could guess that this is on purpose? Exchange deactivated and the only source to get C-points is to buy them for real money...but this would be a only an assumption...

Simplest solution is usually the right one - sheer volume of transactions causing the server to get gummed up.

But I like to think Occam kept a Crackpipe next to his Razor.

Yeah... I'd like to think they are not that desperate for our money :)

I think that'd be pretty damn low, and I'm not willing to attribute that level of skeevy usedcarsalesmanliness to Cryptic at this time. I mean, there's 'I've got real sand for doing this,' and then there's 'I'm fiscally suicidal for doing this!' It's not the sort of thing that's easilly covered up.

Given recent decisions, I wouldn't be surprised at all...

Nah. I think the system is just overloaded. You can get as many Cardassian Lock Boxes as you want with Dilithium and as many keys as you want with C-Points.

Cryptic is loosing money with the Dilithium Exchange being down. Highly doubt it's intentional.

    of course its intentional

they want to make as much money off this TRIBBLE as possible, so they shut down the dilithium exchange to force players to open their wallets (yet again) to get the keys for these stupid lock boxes.

How are they making more money with the Dilithium Exchange down? All C-Points from there are paid for by players. They are not awarded by Cryptic for playing the game (Dilithium).

With the exchange down they are loosing money from both ends. The quickest way to get lock boxes is to buy them with Dilithium. And the quickest way to get Dilithium is to Buy C-Points and put them on the Exchange.

Torval the cpoints are paid for one way or the other...how would this get them more money? I for one won't pay for the cpoints but will gladly give the dilithium to buy someone elses cpoints....thereby creating demand....

removing a method of increasing demand for an item which EARNS money is a dumb way to make money. Its like owning a cofee shop with donuts and telling everyone you can't buy donuts any more and exepct to make MORE money because they will all buy coffee....really? calm down breathe. The lock boxes stay after the event... the keys stay after the event... unless cryptic is removing the exchange alltogether they will all be back.

    Calm down.

these Devs need to do MORE testing before releasing broken content. Exchange's been down for me for almost 2 hours now.

They fix 1 thing then break 5 thing's that were working fine before, they need to hire TRUE content tester's before they release it.

Sorry if i sound like a troll and what not, just really ****ed off and annoyed.

Captains, this thread is now closed. The fact in that you even think this is intentional is beyond ludicrous. The team is working on a fix to make the exchange more reliable, please be patient.

    Cheers,

    Brandon =/\=
