I agree and I'm getting annoyed with it. Don't know these people and really don't care what they have. They could have flying Purple Monkey Bridge Officers and I wouldn't care. Found a quick fix for this, turn "SYSTEM CHAT" Off.

Perhaps if you guys post a new thread here every time you get the message ingame (Thread title "XY has unlocked a Galor-class Cardassian Cruiser, post text "Congratulations!"), Cryptic would start to see your point :D

I concur... For the love of Roddenberry please do NOT do the stupid PWE thing of announcing when people get something. I DO NOT CARE and do NOT need to see this. I do not care when they get some ship, or weapon, or armor, or go to the bathroom. It is not IMPORTANT.

It is for this reason and this reason alone that I even visit these forums. I have had nothing but good things to say about this game until today's update.

If "the powers that be" want to put in a locked box system where everyone is finding boxes and having to pay to open them, that's fine by me. Whatever makes them the money they need to keep the game running. I can just throw away the boxes whenever I see them and everything is fine.

If they want to announce the big grand prize winners to build up hype and push the ignorant masses to continue buying keys in droves, that's also fine. Like I said, you do what you have to.

But when they put these announcements right in the middle of my screen, where mission critical information and game notifications personal to me are supposed to go, that's when I am furious. When did I say I give a flip about who won some stupid cardassian ship in your crappy raffle and how is it at all relevant to me or what I'm doing? When something shows up in that notification area, it has always been something important that should be looked at. Now it's an advertisement of the developer's money-grubbing scheme. I've found myself dying in the combat simply because I'm too busy screaming my throat off, telling my screen to shut the **** up.

I am very upset with this. If the developers want to advertise their new gimmick, they should be keeping it in the chat window where gameplay-irrelevant system messages belong.

That just removes the spam from the chat window. I does nothing to prevent the pop-up notifications, which are the ones that irritate me.

I am in a state of shock that someone thought this type of spam was a good idea. Not only that but who ever thought of this then had to suggest it to someone else. And then that second person thought it was a good idea and it went live.

I can't believe we live in a world were TWO people would think spamming the names of people who won in a contest a large amount of the player base hates was a good idea. That two people of sound mind and judgment thought it would be good to troll idiots who dropped 100 bucks or more on this TRIBBLE and still didn't get the ship. "Hey moron, thanks for dropping all that money trying to get that ship. Oh by the way, look at all the people who did win the ship. Sucks to be you!"

Why not just put the C-Store splash screen over our entire screen at a 20% transparency? Or how about setting off the Red Alert sound effect everytime someone wins, so we think we are being attacked? I know! I know! I got it. How about every time someone wins this stupid ship you move all our keybinds one key to the right and don't tell us.

I second that. How could they go for this silly idea? And also, did they test this on the Tribble test server and if they did, did people not complain? Or maybe because F2P users cant use Tribble it wasn't as bad as it is now? Well then maybe everybody should be allowed on Tribble so these annoyances can be avoided in the future.

Very annoying, and I am certain a cheap marketing tool to get us to spend real cash in the C-Store for those expensive one-off keys.
Welcome to the World of F2P...it is far from Perfect.

Ugh, I closed the game and can't be bothered to play anymore tonight, the spam is just irritating. I'm not interested in the ship as I prefer not to gamble with REAL MONEY.

Welcome to Star Fortress Online. Where everything costs 10 times as much as it should (£15-20 for ships, without gambling)

I'll do you one better. Why not just make it so that every time you jump to a new sector, start a new DOFF assignment, join a new Que, start a new Mission, turn in a Mission or DOFF Assignment, or transition to a new map, trade anything, mail anything, or private message anyone it brings up a prompt that asks you if you would like to visit the C-Store. This prompt has to be clicked "Yes or No." before you can do ANYTHING else and if you click "No" it asks "Are you sure?" With another "Yes or No" box that must be clicked in order to proceed.

There, that should about cover it.

Just shows how bad Cryptic is with staying in touch with the community. Why not just let everyone know when someone buys something from the C-store since thats what you are TRYING to do...

I got sick of the spam and just logged out. Probly won't be spending any appreciable amount of time in game till the spam is gone. On the plus side, the one thing these annoying messages has achieved is to convince me I do not under any circumstances want one of the galor ships.

It doesn't annoy me quite as much as the people here, but it's definitely not a good idea. Declarations like this should be reserved for actual accomplishments (like EQ2 epics, that was cool and it was something deserving of congratulations), but this is just rubbing someone else's random good fortune in everyone's faces. It's in bad taste.

Don't have the cash to waste on "keys" every time I get a box and roll the die. Even if I did happen to win one, fat chance, it would still be as aggravating as all get out.

As a long time EQ2 player I had weekends where top-raiding guilds made these messages appear every other minute.

It was annoying at first but I got used to it fast. I guess we'll get used to the "ship spam" too

No one complained when the DOFF mission completion scrolled across the screen. Even those that don’t care if they started a mission or one was completed. I am just saying that I gave logged 6 hours since they added that message and I have only noticed one of them.

This must be designed by the same guy who brought us the automatic mission popup earlier.
HR, please check his diploma again. I'm beginning to suspect that he bought it and not earned it.

No one complained about that because they have complete and total control over seeing those messages or not. And those messages are relevant to our characters. If you didn't care about finishing a DOff assignment then it's a safe guess to say you probably won't start a new one.

The only way DOff messages could be considered in the same category of annoyance would be if we were seeing messages about other people finishing DOff assignments.
