The answer is clear, we need a thread where everyone posts the same thing, like "XYZ@ZYX has unlocked a cardassian galor class cruiser!" hundreds of hundreds of times, and it will undoubtedly be locked.
However, when it is locked, the moderator may have a brainwave as to why it was annoying.
Is some one willing to log several hours of System Chat and export it to a file? I'd love to estimate how many Galor class vessels were released into the wild in the first few hours. I am guessing there are quite a few more than could be considered "rare" by most reasonable standards.

Yeah, does seem a bit fishy. Especially as an unscientific scout around Sol and Sirius revealed a grand total of one Galor across the instances.
Given they're being 'unlocked' every few minutes, one would expect more captains to be showing them off.

At an average sampling of 40 per hour, it works out to approximately 960 ships in a 24-hour period. Considering that on Day 1 of Steam F2P, there were 7100 concurrent players on from that platform alone (as reported by STOked at the time of filming), that number doesn't seem so farfetched.
Posting percentages of the chance of each item =\= spamming the server with messages when someone gets one.
But hey, this way i guess they can try to entice people to buy it if they see random other people get them as well, without knowing how many boxes people used.
While at the same time completely alienating the people that don't care about the boxes at all.
This "in your face" advertising is getting out of hand, in my opinion.
It just wreeks of desperation for more cash and if that's the case, maybe they shouldn't have gone free to play in the first place and instead, reduced the sub fee to something like $4.99 a month.
Ok, so on top of the Galor lottery box controversy, you're spamming us with Galor Winners down the middle of the screen that we can't even turn off? If anything, I won't want to play the new FE because of this new spam. Cryptic, get your marketing team straightened out please.
notice how they advertise when everyone else in the world gets one.. making you think it is a frequent occurrence?
And yet a guy just a few moments ago was complaining in-game because he dropped about $200 on Cryptic Points (or so he claimed) and got nothing but junk pulls. I kind of believe him, because he was giving it all away to whoever wanted it.
Unfortunately for the OP, Cryptic is a blatant double standard when it comes to spamming. If you do it, you are going to get in some kind of trouble. While if they do it, its no problem.
And I've come to terms with that...amazing how good you feel when you absolutely don't give a TRIBBLE. They've flushed this game down the gold-plated toilet.
Latest sampling - 10 Galor spams in approximately 25 minutes. That's 40 spams per hour, or roughly 1 Galor spam every 1.5 minutes, consistent with earlier samplings.

The worst thing about that? You have to censor the name but Cryptic spams it all over the entire server for everyone to see... What is the point in us being restricted that way if they are not going to follow the same rules?
I could really care less for the lockboxes and keys - I was simply going to pretend they
never existed. But this - this blatant spam of "system messages" is just taking it too far.
It doesn't make me want to buy the darn keys. It makes me want to log out and cancel my
account
It's ruining my gaming experience, not only because of immersion but because I
also watch the notification for important messages, such as the state of my target's shields
or my doff assignments. These spam messages about the Galor needs to be removed at once,
or I'll start sending hourly tickets to support to get this obvious "bug" fixed!
it took 1 single announcement to get me to log. 1. I am not the most active folks anymore, basically logging in to do my Doffs then log out, but that, was ruined by the announcement. I don't care who or what unlocked whatever the newest money grab is, I really don't. Spamming me with it, just reinforces my intent to destroy each and every box I get. It was bad enough the FE is all over the Doff stuff, though i can move to get away from it at least.
The idea is to make you feel the odds are good because you keep seeing poeple getting them. Only minutes between each? Surely your must fancy your chances.
However they havn't published the drop rates and the spam doesnt tell you anything about how many boxes didnt contain a Galor Class.
It's a cheap trick, and I'm not saying that because I'm blindly opposed to it, it really is a cheap trick, lets not forget the QWW grab bags.
HEY.. I gotta idea.. although it means money out of cryptic's pocket.. how about we get master key's as loot? lol wait a sec.. I got a Force Field Key in my bank from one of the cardassian missions... why not let us just use those, cryptic? Cryptic, you poor lost souls.... you are just making one mistake after another with these marketing schemes.
And I've come to terms with that...amazing how good you feel when you absolutely don't give a TRIBBLE. They've flushed this game down the gold-plated toilet.
A good guage of community rage should generally be how willing people are to actually, knowingly subject themselves to a forum ban - and feel genuinely good about it.

I submitted a community support ticket.
They're always harping on us to use the system, so I suggest we bury them in hate mail until they have to turn it off.

I have to say, I'm rapidly coming to that point.
That point has come, and gone for me.
Heck, I submitted a ticket asking devs to be punished for spamming.

I think more and more folks are hitting that point. At points in my time here I've been, fairly, aggressive to put it mildly at times, but in each case I've felt it warranted it. My signature reflects this, To make a statement like the one made, is, well to be nice, not the smartest thing in the world. Even though we know the Cryptic support sucks, admitting its even slower than your other support system, is NOT a good idea.

Exactly .... . Too late for that .... , that ship has warped out .
Cryptic : "its working ... I SAID IT'S WORKING AS INTENDED ... -- YES ... YES IT WILL ENHANCE YOUR FE EXPERIENCE !!!"

just wanted to add the chorus asking for these Galor announcements to either be turned off OR we be given the option to turn them off
PLEASE! These messages are AWFUL!!!

More like: "I can see this thread getting out of control, so I'm going to lock it now. Cheers!"

I'm shocked the community moderators haven't buried/merged/closed/moderated the heck out of it.
Maybe Cryptic finally did something so bad it resulted in mutiny?

Where ARE our beloved uberpeers?
They can't all have took the night off together, despite the strain on their delete keys from the previous few evenings.
