We will be bringing the Tribble server down for maintenance to apply a new update.
ST.17.20120129b.17
General:
Updated all the ship consoles, tier 4 and below, that come on C-Store ships so they no longer are restricted by ship class.
What?!??!!?!? Thinking cool... but wow. Never thought I would see something like that. +1 consoles are really starting to compete for slots with standard consoles.....

ST.17.20120129b.17
General:
Updated all the ship consoles, tier 4 and below, that come on C-Store ships so they no longer are restricted by ship class.
The TOS Tier 1 Constitution ship now comes with +3 bonus power to all subsystems.
Updated Starbase 157 to make the floor a little more solid.
Known Issues:
Currently, the Rhode Island console that grants Photonic Displacement is still only valid for Science ships.
This is not as intended and will be updated to work on all ships soon.
Does that mean those Consoles can be used on Shuttlecraft too? If so, Awesome. (Though I still wouldn't be able to RP a cloaked captain's yacht, oh well).
We would really love balance testing on the consoles.
Looks Like Im buying a bunch of Tribble ships for my KDF then, because none of the Federation consoles interest me at all (It'll be cool to be able to subspace jump a cruiser or carrier, or to put Vent Theta on a Vor'Cha Refit, etc)
We would really love balance testing on the consoles.
getting caught in theta radiation is almost a guaranteed death sentence. it drains your shields, blinds you, and grinds you to a halt giving you a defense penalty. its a completely broken console.
the Aceton Assimilator thing is bad too, it can only be hurt by torpedoes, a very slow firing and low arc weapon and it generally takes more then 1 torpedo to kill it. half of cruisers don't run torpedoes, and cant turn fact enough to kill them quickly. fire off FAW around one and its like getting hit by a tactical ship using FBP1
Oh TRIBBLE. I can already see a wing of decloaking BoPs firing off Isometric Charges.
Carrier captains, however, will rage as every Fed ship ends up carrying the Point Defense console. Intrepid-Rs with both torpedo ability consoles? Escorts using antimatter spread in their strafing runs? Oh my, this will be fun.
And the new prize boxes with the cross-faction consoles just became a lot more valuable.

We want to make sure that there aren't any extremely OP combinations of consoles. We know how each console functions on its own.
Thanks!
I can already now see myself using my Bortas as a super death machine now that can dominate escorts by just jumping in behind them and opening up with my 4x DHC and 4x turrets on them....
Only thing that gives them even a fighting chance against this monster is their greater maneuvrability, which would be pretty much negated by this console.
But its pretty clear now that Cryptic does not really care about PvP.
As its now all about consoles and their fancy gimmicks rather than actual skill.
Well I can already see Subspace Jump + Graviemtric Pulse being OP: Teleport behind your enemy and then turn rate nuke them?
Honestly it would not be much different from for example if I were to do something like that there is no huge difference between using a teleport console which is already available to bops and putting an omega set using its 3rd set skill does almost the same thing. Although i'm more resourceful so I haven't found much merit in buying it for 1200 c points... I'd prolly get it if it was 800. Just me but I don't find the 1200 c point ones any better than the 800's.

Anti-matter Spread on ALL Starfleet ships? No, no, no.
Nadeon Detonator?
Emission Seeking Torpedo?
On all ships? Really? And pushing this onto Holodeck without even 24 HOURS of testing? This needed at LEAST a week to test how badly this will break PvP.

It may or may not break pvp being a mainly KDF player too there are some pretty crafty console setups we can use too so in the end it will probally balance itself out.
There are some OP combos for now. But after the inevitable balance tweaks, it'll make everyone choose between a bunch of +1 abilities or resists/counters to those abilities. In the end it'll make every console slot more valuable. Plus more bang for your c-store buck.
Personally, i think they need to add a specific slot for these special consoles, and only allow one to be equipped per ship.
That would solve the problem of people having any OP combo's.
Well, this will be interesting. More on the Klingon side than Fed, since the Fed consoles aren't as cool IMO. The only thing I like is the burst one on my Fed ships.
Looking at this, I think they should open the quad cannons up.
For ships that can equip DHC, they aren't the best because they stop scaling at Mk X, Dmg isn't the most desirable stat to boost, and the -10 to engine power.
They'd be pre-balanced on cruisers. That -10 engine power counters an already low turnrate and beam arrays are close.
Quad cannons would actually be pretty worthwhile on science ships. Just enough turnrate to make use of them.Maybe a bit of an upgrade over beam arrays. The -10 engine power and Dmg modifier would be nice but still fairly balanced for a PvE Science ship looking to deal some extra damage.
I see one glaring balance issue already: The PDS console from the Thunderchild class ship should not be allowed on shuttlecraft. If you ever intend to create shuttle PvP maps with the season 6 update, or even shuttle-based missions, allow for shuttle-based foundry content, etc, this console will be a problem.
Since the vast majority of players don't ever use their shuttles much, this shouldn't annoy too many people, and would avert a serious balance problem from a niche aspect of the game.

Interesting... I'm going have to go look up what consoles that affects
EDIT: ... wow... this includes a lot of good consoles... Isometric Charge...Magnetometric Generator...Nadeon Detonator... should be fun
Seriously? I just left that ship a week ago!

Why stop at Tier 4 ...
Cloak + Ablative armor would be fun
Great change & excellent cutoff. Thank you all!
EDIT: balance testing - I'll help where I can, which is mostly some KDF consoles. Although now this will probably change

any Combination of mutliple kdf consoles are OP, thats why this is not the greatest Idea. Saying nothing about AMS on sci ships and escorts...
Anyway this could be fun, Now I have to go dig through all my consoles to see what might be usable on the old Defiant.

Give it time. Personally I like this change and if this goes well I suspect it will include at least some of the tier 5 ones eventually. ;)
