They're just trying to get people even more hyped for the 11th. Nothing wrong with that.
I, for one, can't wait to find out what happened to them. Did they spend all those years in limbo, or were they talking to the Prophets for the whole time? Or did the Prophets just throw the fleet into the future? So many possibilities.
My only question: what's the special reward for this arc? Will it be a special boff, or something completely different?

I'm hoping it's not a boff...we have too many of them haha. Hell my extended boff list has been full for some time....had to kill...errr dismiss one of my old boffs for my android even
I have to assume that the whole 2800th will be coming out of the wormhole at the same time. How can that play out? I welcome a challenge but geez:)
I imagine that the fleet will quickly capture the relatively-unguarded DS9, and presumably Bajor with it. The arc follows the player trying to force the invasion forces away while protecting the Bajorans. And of course, figuring out why the 2800 returned in the first place.

It's gonna be epic.
I can see it going that way now that you said it. Be a heck of a surprise attack. loads of fun taking DS9 back if it goes that way.
The answer to this question is a simple yes. I have already single handedly destroyed more than 2800 ships in STO already.
This, FTW. 2800 ships? Since they can't ALL fit on the screen at once, and they're 30-year-old ships that modern Block III Defiants should be able to EAT ALIVE... well, let's just say that I hope they learned some new tricks while they were doing hard time in the worm hole.

By god my Galaxy X stands ready for the incoming pain!
They may take me down, but if they do, I am damn sure I will be taking quite a few of them with me!!
Yes but did you single-handedly destroy all those ships in a single battle, all attacking at once?
Well .... We need a team of five bortaS -class battle cruisers armed with all the cannons they can pile on .... roll in front of the wormhole and pull up the parking break and blast em to Grethor when they dare emerge!
Sorry, returning F2P player here. What are "episodes" and will I be able to tackle them at Captain level? And can I grab a bug ship as a reward? I mean, they have 2800 of them. I doubt they'd miss one.

A string of playable missions that make up one story.
Each episode is released per week and they level to your Characters rank
Luckily they will all warp to the same spot and get destroyed by the warp core explosions of the previous ships. Had that happen in The Other Side and it was glorious.
No. what ever the reward(s) may be, cryptic has pretty specifically stated CBS said no to that. To say nothing of what would happen if people that spent hundreds of dollars couldn't get one a couple months ago and they handed them out for free for playing a mission now. They'd need a bomb shelter to hide from that one.
Several months ago, Starfleet and the KDF each started coming across stray JemHadar attack ships in the sector near Deep Space Nine. This was unexpected, as was the fact that the ships appear to be of an older design, not seen in over 30 years. Researchers are busy trying to understand where these ships came from.
The newest featured episode series in Star Trek Online is coming this Saturday. The story explores what happened to the 2,800 Dominion warships that disappeared within the wormhole near Deep Space Nine. To catch up on your history of events, find a copy of the Deep Space Nine season 6's episode Sacrifice of Angels, or explore further by also watching the season 5 finale and the 5 episodes in season 6 that precede the momentous events in Sacrifice of Angels.
The first episode in The 2800 will premiere at 10:00 am PST on February 11, 2012. The series will continue through four more episodes, each releasing on Saturday at 10:00 am PST, and culminating with the final episode on March 10, 2012.
Be sure to tune in during the first run of the series to get the extra bonus rewards that will be available during the first run. Once the series goes into reruns in late March, the bonus rewards will be removed.
Do you have what it takes to face the threat that required the legendary Benjamin Sisko to appeal to the Prophets for help?

Why not set up a Netflix Affiliate ( https://account.netflix.com/Affiliates ) account and get on the passive income market. have it so that you give a 1 Month free trial to Netflix ( which has all of Start Trek: TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, Voy, Ent, and The Captains: the William Shatner Documentary on instant streaming )
and then you'd make some extra money on the side:D
Unfortunately, as already in quite some other dev diaries, there is nothing actually new in this one. Some diaries are just sum-ups of older news. I'd like to know actual news in a dev diary, lol.
I find this idea great. Imagine the Jem'Hadar coming out of the wormhole, overrunning DS9 at unexpectedly heavy losses, with Fed personnel having actually personal shields and all that... and then the fire-baptized 2410 Fed fleet arrives to strike back.

Can we please officially go into 2410 + haha? I forgot what year STO reall should be...but 2409 has long passed....
Also...can't wait...not sure if I'll go see The Avengers before this FE though

not to nitpick but....what exactly did he reveal that wasn't already revealed in an earlier dev diary

Which will get nerfed 2 days after the series ends because the devs realize how much it breaks the rest of their missions.
Maybe a baby changeling pet? Nah, discussions about slavery would probably rise before the finale has been released.
A Ketracel White injector (non addictive) to enhance your damage and resistance?
In the end my money is on a Boff... not sure if I want Jemmie or Vorta.
