It's a scheduled maintenance. Not sure if anything WAS broken, they just need to bring it down. And hey, at least it's at midnight PST, instead of 8AM. Should make some people happy, other people puddles of angst.

    Par for the course.

The purpose of this maintenance is to deploy a fix for the database crash that occurred on Saturday. There are no other changes and there should not be a user patch.

Crash??? I notice a little latency after yesterdays maintenance but that normally happens after words.

It would be simpler to just sticky a post that says 'scheduled maintenance every day' with the time updated daily.

So you would rather they didn't fix the problem that brought the game down for an hour prime time Saturday?

That's too bad. I would like to see the auto-fire unpatched.

why fix autofire today when they can fix it tomorrow... and then the next day... or the next day. They have to bring the servers down everyday to stay consistent.

Considering that the bulk of the time I have had this week TO play has been during the scheduled maintenance i am getting more then a little frustrated that the last few days I have logged on EVERY day has maintenance downtime scheduled...........i understand this must be done, and im normally glad it is but its kind of like closing the highway for maintenance, dont do it every single day for a period of time.......pls? (except im not paying to use the highway....<cough> )

guys Rehpic already said why this maintenance is happening. They don't want to do it, but honestly it's kinda critical. As for autofire they know about it, and I'm almost certain some of the staff use it on their characters :p So it's not like they are ignoring it. However, I think the database is more of a critical issue than autofire ;)

That depends on the situation...multi-tasking is a b----h, while in a middle of a massive battle.

Oh trust me, TOTALLY AGREE lol. I think it's a pain in my rear end too :D, but I'd rather my characters and such be safe and secure (and working!) vs having to spam my spacebar.

Why not have a set scheduled time to perform maintenance rather than simply bringing down the servers and disrupting everyone's playtime? I've been waiting on my girlfriend to get off work so we could login and play, yet she doesn't get off til midnight, when the servers go down. Midnight is like prime-time among computer gamers no matter what time zone you're in. Why not wait a few hours, say 4 or 5am?

there goes my chances of making captain tonight, seeing as i wont be able to get back on after its over. itd be nice to have a post in the launcher that says when there is maintenance, espically since its scheduled...

as for whats broke this time, its the skill button under your rank and grade.

It's funny how the maintenance cycle now always hits my breaks or free times. I work shifts, and now since the frames rotate, I always get the bad times. I have to work at 12:00 CET twice, and the maintenance hits 9:00 to 11:00 and I woke up at 8:30 ... I guess on Wednesday it's gunna rotate again to evening Europe time and then I'll be home in the evening. :p

    Autofire works fine.

All you need to do is type in the message box /toggle and select the auto target box that you see open.

You can fix autofire by yourself (/ToggleDefaultAutoattack) but what about the broken cloaking device of Bortas?:)

I'm sure they are working on autofire and the cloaking device, but working on the Database so it can work properly again is a lot of work, especially with a game like STO where the Database wouldn't be a small one. And as Askray said before, I have rather my accounts save and sound than a new crash that could delete the entire progress from one day up to some weeks for said account's (depending on how reliable the last backups are. And if there was longer a problem, there may be the backups affected too, so they have to use an backup that was unaffected which would be older than just 3 or 4 day's.)

Have you tried turning it off and back on again? According the tech support hotline my friend phoned apparently it is a miracle cure :)

I do agree with others the database is a priority fix and people would be more upset with progression and gear loss that a couple of hours needed to sort it.
