Its seem now anytime you go on a ground station (ESD,DS9,K7,Memory Alpha) you have a multitude (and I mean a lot) of kiddies running around doing nothing but using bubble-guns, tribble shooters, fire extinguishers, flame throwers and other highly annoying items that you have to turn off your sound just to get anything done because of the distraction,
Now that the floodgates are open with F2P I guess we have to put up with this kind of annoyance. I was thinking about resubscribing but definitely not now, get rid of these annoyances and I will pay for STO again.
This happened last year, too. It'll die down when people get bored.
It does tend to pick up again when people are waiting for events to start, peaking at ridiculous in that 5 minute delay that always seems to come between the top of the hour and the event NPCs spawning in and then pretty much stopping when the event is open and people go about getting their rewards. But for the most part, it dies a few days after the anniversary event.
I will say that some of the effects on the 2nd anniversary poppers are obnoxiously loud compared to the 1st anniversary ones. The flamethrower in particular.
Ignore garravesh all you want, his question is valid. The developers aren't going to do anything about it (aside from maybe tuning the volume), so just let the other players have their fun and go about your business. I understand your frustration, as they can get annoying, but Hevach is right, it'll die down by next week.
Is this the same party poper from year one celebration? If it is, it is the once a year opportunity to earn a hard to find item. Especially for newly created characters. Why be a spoil sport?
If it isn't the party popper it'd be something else. There are some people who just love to complain about people having fun.
"Stop talking about Star Trek vs Star Wars / Chuck Norris / Your Family / Life / Job / Etc... in Zone chat! I'm gonna report you for spamming zone chat!"
I guess it may be just a parenting skill you learn, but I have no problem blocking out that which has NOTHING to do with me.

Beep it don't bother me at all they way i block mine out is too play my WMP internet radio plane and simple.and witch i do that most of the time any way.
I particularly like the implication that anyone that finds it amusing or uses the item is a "kiddie" and a detriment to the STO player community. I rather think it's this person that's a problem.
You don't like people having fun? That's your problem.
Having fun is one thing. But when they start following you around and getting in your way while still blasting those things, or there's so much going on that your computer starts lagging and glitching, then it becomes a problem and people need to tone it down.

Even parents tell their kids to stop when it becomes annoying to them. And there isn't a single parent anywhere who hasn't done it. So don't say you "just tune it out".
Well ty for the complement, you just called a 48 year old man a kiddie wee i feel young now, lol some people are just party poopers, and not happy unless there complaining about something, so you have fun complaining and ill have fun with my party favor weeeeeeee

Well, believe what you want. I raised two children to be great young men, and I never had any problem "tuning out" background noise, loud music, the occasional minor scuffle between brothers, and the ever popular "are we there yet?"
Some people choose to get angry and try to change others, some people realize the only person you have control over is yourself so they adapt.
Place em all on ignore . Welcome to /ignore....bait not taken.....well maybe i will take the bait....was it expensive bait..i gots to go fishing in a couple of days.!!!
Nuttin like sum expensive bait.....
By the way thats my new alternate SIG Welcome to ignore...bait not taken
When I grew up, I was a constant target for people picking on me because I would not react well and I couldn't ignore them. Be it family, friends, strangers with social issues, whatever. To some degree, I still can't ignore the challenge of someone trying to make me angry for their enjoyment. But even I can get around people spraying their party poppers everywhere. If I can, you can as well without having to resort to lowering your volume.
...or maybe I'm just used to it, sitting in the auction house in World of Warcraft and someone drops that train item on the ground, making 80+ people do the annoying /train emote.
Sure, I see people blasting them off in the exchange area or the bank or even the shipyards, but I take a second to look back and realize I shouldn't get angry at people being... ya know, people. Heck, I might even join in with them if I don't have anything better to do at that moment.
Personally I don't mind that stuff, I keep the STO volume generally very low unless I am in battle.
First I thought, that apart from the tribble gun the stuff is -100% for immersion. But then I remembered, that it was Q how gave it away - so it's actually in the "Trek" spirit
But of course Kirk, Picard, Sisko and Janeway would have issued order to feed those "gifts" to the replicator after 2 or 3 days
Edith thought I should write trek with a capital "T"
People should be dignified when having fun . The should sit down and drink tea !
BTW , this "ignored list / bait not taken" thing the "new awesome" now ?
Will it make me cool with the hip kids ?
At least it's not a "bunch of yahoos running around in beachwear .... " -- cause that would be the end of the world ... !
Looking at you Capt_GEKO ... .
Guys/Gals stop with the "ignored bait not taken" posts. All it does is incite others to start flaming/trolling, and I'd rather not have to hand out warnings by the bucket full
Now you can disagree with the OP all you want, but do it politely not rudely please.

Ignore list..have fun there..Bait Not Taken!!
guess he was venting his rage in his topic...
We all should have agreed and signed a petition to remove all celebratory items from game because this specific tool annoys him.
I have several children i learn to block out anything that annoys me.....
that is what they are for

LOL. Scrooge.
Give it a week.

This is impossible. Everything that is wrong ever is because the game went F2P.

I'm glad there is something to provide some amusement in the rather dull and lifeless PVE non-combat zones.
