i myself really like the bortas and the entF, and i also understand that big ships turn slowly but:
while questing this is real hell ... 10sek for killing sth. 50sec to get to the loot ...
my suggestion would be to make a new eng skill. that has its first rank in lt com, and its second rank in commander, and epic bos may have a rank3 in com slot.
skillname: "Auxilliary to Auxilliary-Thrusters" diverts all auxilliaryPower to the Thrusters system to boost your turnrate for 5sec.
the outcome of turnrate is based on your aux level, and has its peak at 25% speed. (move faster or slower, youll loose effect) also you will loose all defense% for the duration (to make it an out-of-combat utility skill)
30sec cd, uses aux system
(i know dampeners does such, but it does far to less, cause it also grants defense, resist etc)
And, use engines with good turn modifiers.
You also have powers like Evasive Maneuvers, Attack Pattern Omega, Aux to Inertial Dampers as skills to improve maneuvrability.
And you can get Deuterium batteris from one of the dailies that acts as a free additional Evasive maneuvers.
as i already said. i know that these skills are in this game. i also mentioned, that they are pretty useless, cause they modify the baseturnrate (5.5/6) and thats why its nearly no difference at all, even if i stack all, it takes 20sec to turn to another direction.
also these skills are limited in their turnrate-bonus value, because they also grant resistance and such things.
thats why i would like to see this ability just for one purpose only:
turning around Vaq'vuv, bortas, galaxy and Odyssey class ships.
thats why these should be very much stronger, and make the ship turn better, at LOWER speed than halfspeed. the ships turning circles are very large, so its nearly impossible to get to an object without needing the whole map for a turnaround.
i donno how familiar you are with those turncircle thing. the the speed/turnrate defines how large the circle is, and: a lower speed at HIGHER turn gives a smaller circle.
the damn thing about the abilities you mentioned is: they grant more turn AND more speed, so the turningcircle doesnt get as smaller as i hope to see.
[i also must say, that the game is lacking here: why is the maximum turnrate at 50% speed to turn? thats wrong: an object turns with a smaller circle, if you lower the forward-speed component ... cause speed is dony by the impulse engines, and turn is created via the aux, thrusters, so: moving slowly should make the ship turn BETTER, not worse ...]
thats why i would like to see a skill that makes our ship having a heavy turn at lets say 25% of the speedbar instead of 50%, for 5 sec, just enogh to turn around. its just damn annoying that i have to make a 20sec maneuver to collect a datasample, while i need 10sec to kill the enemy.
i know that these ships are MEANT to turn slow. but does this have to result in a 30sec maneuver to collect loot/datasamples?! this could be solved by this. this skill has no use infight, cause it kills your defense and sucks your aux away. it could also increse damage taken or such by 50% so its only used to turn the ship around out of/after combat.
i really like the new ships, but they are a pain to play, cause i need so much time for getting to the loot.
the other option would be to just remove/enlarge the distance parameter from loot. so that we can loot without those annoying maneuvering.
a third variant ive come to was, giving these ships some 1hull-collect-shuttles. "launch-get loot-return" with a 10 sec cd or such.
just to clearify this: im not seeking for a skill, that makes it possible to use dual heavy cannons in the vaq'vuv/bortas. im just heavily annoyed by the "time needed to somehow get to the loot"

Yeah. I get around +140% turn rate regularly, it really makes a diff, even if your turn rate is low to begin with.
