so i have 51K in hull and 12k in shield right.... can anyone tell me why when im in a STF a Tac Cube can one hit me??? or y when my shield drops one hit from any other NPC will take me from 100% to 38%??? i mean i was fine before... i have no idea whats going on but its very annoying
The Tactical Cubes in Elite can hit you with a Torp for over 100K damage easily. They also have lots of Tetryon Beams and Shield Depleters to set you up for the one-hit wonder. Honestly, besides staying far away and moving in and out of range of their attacks most any ship will go BOOM if they are are a Tactical Cube's preferred target for too long.
There are strats and ways to overcome the one hit kills though..read the other parts of this forum.
you would be suprised in what you learn from people. I fly a cruiser that can survive the best a tac can offer with some life to spare and strength to fight on.
Tanking in MMO's in the traditional sense where a fighter gets spam healed by the cleric is thrown out the door in THIS MMO.
Tanking means grabbing aggro and holding it by , generally, flying off to out of range and letting the dps and sci beat it to death.
Do not try to go head to head solo with a tac cube on elite......I was in an stf tonite where such a captain did so and cried one hit killed me......well sure it did.
In KA the wide beam attack from the assimilated reman ship does not even kill me....
A few words of advice...
1. Invest in hull armor for your ship which are equipped in the engineer slot.
2. Always move as fast as you can steer effectively..the faster the better..
3. Invest in the skill which draws aggro it also gives a resistance to your hull.
4. invest in the hull bonus versus kinetic and energy (especially plasma)
5. Learn to gauge the cooldowns of the tac cube...this is only educated guessing and watching the icons appear on the ship when you target it i.e the beam and torpedo buffs which kill many.
6. Invest in hull make sure you max your hull hit points
7. There is an item that drops that slightly phases you out and gives you a damage resistance buff buyt makes you more vulnerable to protons...try and get it...it drops from part of the story lines...devidians i think...Subspace field modulator
8. Auxillary power to hull and dampeners both offer a solid boost to damage resistance.
9. Polarize hull offers a resistance to damage
10. hazzard emitters offers resistance to damage too.
I use many of these and when i go head to head with a tac cube and then burst speed away because i wont last much longer...but usually i have aggro and thats all that is needed to keep the escorts and sci folk from dying. I can bump my resistances to near 80 and the most i have seen a tac cube do to me when i am prepared is 45k with his one shot. That is survivable.

Hello I have seen you post on this topic several time i mean you no disrespect at all, i dont know why you are fighting this so hard or it seems like you are but i beleave i speack as an average player which i feel like a majority of your regular sto players are , not some random pug, i been playing sto sence the beginning, my fleet we have a decent crew that runs stfs, but ever sence they sau=id they drop then one level they seem to be actually harder, exspecialy cure space and cure ground, cure space is barly doable if your set up exactly right with the exactly proper team set up , and cure ground forget it , its just not doable , it is beyound crazy lol, now remember i am speacking as an average player not a uber good player as yourself, and not a pug, i realy beleave they need to be looked at again, no i dont beleave they need to be set so any pug player can hope in and easily get the great gear, but i beleave they dont need to be set so high and crazy hard eather so it take a uber good team to do eather, I beleave it should be a good challenge for the average sto player, and what i consider average player is some one who has invested in the right equipment been at it a while who plays to have fun but dont take it soo seriously, i think there is a balance here yet to be found, and it needs more tweeking, this is just one persons thoughts.
