All of us Trekie fans what Star Trek: Online to feel as authentic as can be. Well I have a couple of suggestions to make it feel more "cannon".
I think the beam out/dock at ESD needs some work. First off, if you don't use the doors to dock with ESD, you should get a beam down option that puts you in the transporter pad like it does now... However, add some transitioning effects (that one can hit spacebar to bypass if they so wish). For the "Beam down" option, The mini cut screens start off with the camera panning around to eventually landing on the exterior where the bridge is located with a fade out/in to the interior of the bridge. The next cuts scene should then be on the bridge of your ship with your toon getting up out of the captains chair followed by a fade out at the turbolift with a fade in at the transporter pad eventually beaming down to your ship. The ability to manually walk yourself to the transporter pad would be a DEFINITE PLUS! You then would be "on" ESD.
For the people who like to use the "Docking Feature". Cut scenes bringing you into the interior of ESD with your ship followed by either a manual docking or automatic docking procedure. One would then need to either manually walk themselves to the exterior portal where the transport shuttles would dock with the ship. Automatic cut scenes would be awesome as well. Followed by a cut scene of the transport shuttle bringing you to "life support" areas of ESD. You then would be "on" ESD.
If you Transported to your ship (rather than docked) you would do the process in reverse. Same for docking.
I think one should always have to use the transporter/shuttles to leave ESD if this would be implemented.
There has always been that "immersion" feeling for those of us that are Trekies. I can't speak for every Trekie, but for me, this would truly enhance the feeling of being a ship Captain.
