When the Reman Featured Episodes Series, Cloaked Intentions came out, the mission granting contacts had voiceovers, unlike previous Featured Episodes in STO. Voiceovers have also been placed in the remastered episodes. Such voiceovers have met with mixed reviews, although I like most of them, except for the Vulcan voiceovers.
Now, I just discovered that Hadron, the Ferengi bartender NPC in Quark's Bar in DS9, has a voiceover when you talk to him, asking if he can help you and using a nice Ferengi accent. This is a brand new feature. As to when Hadron was given this voiceover is a mystery to me ... I never saw it announced in any recent patch notes.
Except for Holo-Leeta, Hadron is the only permanent NPC voiceover in STO outside of the EMH in the tutorial.
With the Hadron voiceover probably being part of the upcomng new Feature Episodes set in DS9, I expect this is a harbinger of more and permanent voiceovers in STO.
Shades of Star Wars: The Old Republic? I hope not. I hear that SW: TOR has numerous and pervasive voiceovers. Frankly, I don't give a darn. I don't need voiceovers enhancing my MMO experience

I just hope Cryptic doesn't feel they need to go full voiceover in the future, in view of SWTOR. I would prefer they allocate their Dev resources to creating and rolling out new missions instead
And as to cutscenes with voiceovers, I want the option to skip ANY AND ALL cutscenes
Hadron only says 3 words. Its not like everything is suddenly going voice over.
They are going to add voice overs to FE or remastering because people have been asking for that a lot. This game had voice overs before TOR was launched. It did not invent the concept of VO in an MMO. STO will never ever match what TOR did whether they want to or not. They spent a stupid amount of money which cryptic dont have but VO is not going away.
I agree there should always be a skip feature for those that dont want to hear it or for replaying it.
