This is still on a lot of the parts for the Prometheus variants.
We've been fixing up a bunch of these issues recently. Are you still seeing this, or has it been fixed?
If it's still happening we can add it to the list of stuff to double-check.
Seriously, like one week ago I reported some more black texture spots ingame (the hallway/ door to the admirals office and tehe office itself on ESD and the fountain in front of the office) through the bug report feature and they are still there.
Is the bug report system ingame bugged as well? Do you get any of these reports from within the game at all?
Based on past experience, I would say that it's safe to assume that the bug reporting system verges on the non-functional.
Time after time the first time an often-reported bug comes to a Dev's attention is when it gets mentioned on the forums.
I hope they review the bug reporting system in the not-too-distant future. Something is clearly wrong.
Wow, I mean I was afraid something was wrong with it but kinda though nah that would be almost too much of a surrealistic irony,.. can't be, right? Well I guess it really is possible,...
IF so basically a lot of folks including me have reported tons of bugs (reports which would been unseen by devs, lost in time and space of sorts) and essentially wasted our time and efforts to do so.
Always wondered as it seemed they only ever noticed bug reports on the forums, so far I though only the bug topic search was broken,... (it would never show anything,... maybe because there was nothing to show to begin with)
Sorry this is not quite the same, im not sure hope i dont hijack sorry.
But i run DX11 and have noticed the black textures on my Advanced escort yes!
I have also Noticed that some places the water (ESD fountain) looks Very Shader 2.0 or old school
(dx9 mode Shader 3.0 look nicer tho it shouldn't)
Also noticed that in space combat sometimes torps dont render at all in DX11 and energy weapons go all thin and funny
Does STO's DX11 use Shader 5.0??
and the advanced Glow/bloom
Or dx10 PxS4.0 or what?
Please note my system is
Phenom II 965 @ 4Ghz,
GTX560 Ti Hawk Twin Frorza III @ 1.1Ghz core / 2.2Ghz shader / 4.4ghz DDR5
8GB DDR3 1.6ghz
Game is run maxed out with 16XAA, 1920X1080 or 3200X1080(windowed) twin monitors
Black textures that have been in the game since DX11 support turned on are still there tas far as I can see. Also, I just got the Belfast Defiant interior, and there are several spots that have the black textures.
Notably, a lot in the trophy room, and in the mess hall.
Also in Engineering, the grapic displaying the Defiant deck cutout view is backwards. The words are backwards.
I can post screeshots from home tonight when I get them taken.
im havin same problems on missions and on my ships and im running the game in Dx9 on a 6850 black edition with latest driver (tryed in Dx11 beta and still no change)
Although some of the big ones seem to be fixed, there are plenty of others still needing attention. The middle of the Transport pad ont he Belfast interior and some spots on the floors just for starters. There are still missing tiles and such on DS9 but a lot less than there once was. Hopefully these will all be fixed soon.
I'm still seeing a lot of black patches on various objects. Ships, interiors (both the TOS interiors and the new Belfast interiors)... all over the place.
I'm switching back to DX9 b/c even though the DX11 settings gives me slightly better framerates and the textures that DO work are shinier, all the black patches are driving me nuts.

Want to bump this and confirm its still currently happening. Noticing it on my Intrepid, where the bridge is supposed to be, part of the deflector, and several spots on the bottom of the engineering hull between the pylons. Also on the pylons themselves, and on the tips of the nacelles. Running in Dx11beta, with 2 6950s using the 12.1 drivers.
The TOS Connie interior is really bad. About a third of the wall panels are missing on the ship decks. This has to be the best example of how bad this needs to be resolved.

Yup. It's still happening. When fixes for it go live I'll post a thread about it and try to consolidate any new reports in that one. By then we should have everything fixed, though.
I don't see any mention of this in the thread, though I may have skimmed too fast.
I just now noticed that the black areas -- such as the triangle shapes in some of the screenshots posted -- inside ships may be shadow-related. On the Azura, for example, toggling lighting and shadows to "Low" removed them entirely. Stepping the lighting quality back up and then the shadows has the black areas/textures appear again. Upon getting back to my ship view, I did the same with the same results.
It seems it's over-zealous black coloring for shadows and not necessarilly the textures themselves?
I can post comparison screenshots if that would help, or others could do the same with their lighting settings and see if that has an effect. If that would be useful at all, of course.

I did the same but put both shadow and light to low setting and the black areas disappeared just as it did with you.
However I only put the light setting back to high and left the shadow setting at low and the black areas returned and stayed regardless of what I set the shadow setting to.
Any word on getting more if not all these fixed soon? The game runs sooo much easier for me using DX11....and yes turning down the lighting makes them all go away but then everything looks like TRIBBLE.
So have been living with all the squares for now... Since only other options are either go back to DX9 and it run like TRIBBLE, or lower the settings that it looks like TRIBBLE.
Yup I am having these issues as well. Been stuck staring at these weird black textures on my galaxy class. I know my computer is not the issue, it is a pretty high end gaming rig that I built, and am still building...
I have rolled back my catalyst drivers to 12.1 & set it on DX9 mode to avoid the black textures, which makes me very sad.
This definitely needs to be addressed! Rolling a semi-new toon that just made Commander yesterday. The missing/black textures are almost everywhere. Devidian missions especially! This really must give new players a favorable impression of this game thanks to all of that sloppy work!

NX, SFA academy, specifically the shadows in the building that houses Lt Ferra. I have noticed a couple of other spots, but they are still there.
