So... I logged on today. I only managed to stay on for an hour or so, but I saw enough for the Good... the Bad... and the UGLY.
THE GOOD- The Flagships are out. Haven't flown the BortaS (my KDF doesn't have Cruiser equipment/BOff specs), but I got the Odyssey. The mission was fun... but not as fun as tanking a Transwarp Gateway AND a Tactical Cube AT THE SAME TIME in Infected Space. I LOVE the Advanced Quantum Drive... I crossed the length of Sirius in 60 seconds. The Deliverance (NX-91337) is a gorgeous, powerful vessel that I don't think I'll EVER give up. Major props.
THE BAD... AND THE UGLY- These had their extremes. The main theme is LAG. Monster lag. I was booted from my Infected Space run on my Sci Officer (my Engineer has the Odyssey, I'm keeping my Sci in the Fed Dread for now) in the run I NEEDED to complete for my Borg Deflector.
That's just the bad.
The ugly is when you can spend 10 minutes repeatedly zoning into Earth Spacedock because you either don't fully load before you disconnect or you don't get very far. Hell, when I went back to ESD after shaking down my Odyssey, I found a lag glitch where Full Impulse would do nothing and I could only swivel instead of move. I didn't even FIND Q, wherever he may be, let alone do THAT event.
Cryptic, PLEASE tell me you plan to upgrade servers BEFORE launching the Dominion FE. NO one will be able to play them with the massive server disconnect I had.
o.O
There were AT LEAST 70 ESD instances earlier... Most full or near it... and you had no lag? What, do you live next to Cryptic?
As for Q, I hopped on, found him, fought through jaw-dropping lag... and voted for the (WORTHLESS) Mystery Box. >.>
73 instances when I was in last night and also no lag; it was smooth all night. The only issue I had was a small delay (15 seconds or so) when retrieving characters but other than it was as smooth as can be.
I have a DSL line and didn't have any issue when I was on the game for 4 hours last night at peak time. I would think that it was a bad connection or something for you.
I personally wasn't able to even load into the game for more then a few minutes trying to load in at ESD. After several attempts I managed to log in and do the shakedown cruise just fine. But once I went back to ESD again to turn it in and talk to Q my game disconnected immediately.
I actually just tried logging in again a few minutes ago and I still could not get past the loading screen after character selection before it crashed.
No, and even if I did, my packets could be routed to new york for all I know.
You chose the box over 500 dilithium or a party popper?
I had no way of knowing how much Dilithium... Pary poppers aren't really THAT cool... and I honestly expected to get something better than a blue quality Mk XI Disruptor Dual Pistols.

Yea, the shakedown cruise seems to be a private instance, I had no lag there. Getting there, and getting back? Different story. The Q mission didn't crash me, but it wasn't easy fighting through the lag in SFA.

It's one of the choices
Mystery Box
500 Dilithium
Party Popper
Sorry that you didn't like you Mk XI Blue item that you had to do a five minute mission for.
What exactly were you expecting?
No, and even if I did, my packets could be routed to new york for all I know.

Q the the party popper. A popper's a popper, but the mystery box could be anything. IT COULD EVEN BE A PARTY POPPER!
~Sorry I had to.
But honestly there has to be some unique item with the mystery box for the event right? Something to hold onto so you can say "I had a 0.001% chance to get this during a anniversary event! All hail my epeen!"
I wouldn't be surprised if there were tribbles in the box...

You chose the box? Really? Were you expecting something other than worthless?
Here, have an audio-visual clue-by-four. Watch it, and remember it every time you're presented with a choice where one of the options is any type of "mystery box" as opposed to a known something.
Now, I'm not saying that you should never choose the mystery box, just don't act like you expect anything better than a dead fish in it. If you get something better, Good for you! If you didn't... well... You took the box!

Q is in the bar.
GL!
