We will be bringing down the shard on Thursday, February 2nd from 12:00AM to 2:00AM PST (0800 to 1000 UTC) in order to perform maintenance and apply a new patch. We will provide an update when maintenance is complete.
wow you are doing it in the middle of the night, wow some one is working late at Cryptic? I wonder if they are burning the midnight candle for the Odyssey Class launch tomorrow?
LAWLS O LAWLS. Says midnight tonight west coast which would be 3am easten. Its just midnight here in the east now and holodeck is going down in 30 minutes.

The in game announcement was in error. The correct time for the maintenance is still Midnight PST, in about 2 hours and 50 minutes from now.
Also, while I don't disagree that taking it down when it's not prime EU time, letting us know ahead of time, and not just an hour ahead of time would be nice.
Oh well, I guess I can find something on tv *shudder* or maybe play monopoly with the kids.
Edited to take out the 'you're too early' comment, since they just told us we still have 3 hours, yay.
When the server comes back up, will the anniversary activities (such as the Odyssey-class shakedown mission) be in place and available, or will that come later?
No, I'm not waiting to get my hands on my new ship, why do you ask? (We wants it, yes we does, my precious...)

That means.. right now as I type its 40 min to service time, so, either they just send someone to grab food at In and Out Burger, or the local artisan pizza place has the Cryptic order in the oven right now! (or very shortly!)
The QA team is in so Zero is in the building (possibly catching a nap in her cube) it only takes moment to actually update the build and bring the servers back up.. BUT they gotta test..make sure everything is working..The game its self.. and where possible check the new and changed features went in ok.. Oh you poor sorry................... your gonna have to run elite STF's... Good luck.. remember if you manage to take down an Elite Tactical drone having only two team members go down than yea the patch took fine!
I'm gonna go play something else for a bit..see ya all ina couple hours.. well, your departing shadows anyway..

Message actually popped up ingame that the maintenance time was incorrectly announced on the server.
I have seen the scheduled updates involved in this patch, and I must say I am really disappointed. You plan to make all the elite STF's easier for the community, when it is not necessary at all. Myself and all my friends already can get through every STF without much problem.. maybe not complete the optional every time, but always get through it. Why? Because we learned how to properly play the game, and utilize all the skills of our classes.
But instead your probably listening to a group of players complaining about how hard it is because they likely always run with strangers, and never have actually tried to learn how to play the game. So of course its too hard for THEM. So rather then nerfing the game for players who don't want to bother learning how to play in the first place, why don't you just find a way to make them actually learn how to play. It would be better for the community as a whole if there were more skilled players out there to enhance PVP as well as PVE.

That's just my two cent's though.
As a returning player I have to agree.
I bought the game at release and played for months leveling up two admirals before getting my fill.
The F2P brought me back and I so far been very pleased.
In the past week I have managed to aquire everything I need for a Veteran Set by doing the STF's as they are. I played normal at first and moved up to elite in no time at all.
As it is they are not hard at all. Somewhat challenging at first, but you get over it.
the STFs are probably made easyer, because the average FTPer, is not as skilled as the older players, and the staff is trying to still please at least 50% of the players. forceing the hardest parts of the game to become easyer.
(it's a tactical move, that benifits the game more than not, till the new FTPers actualy use their slow learning curves and recach a skill, that makes them with it was harder, then the staff will most likely raise the difficulty back up, or add a even harder mission.)
my bet is on harder but diffrent missions in the future, and that are probably already being pland. the lower difficulty on current high end missions, is most likely to make them the new 2nd hardest missions (like lowering the required level to start a mission just before or as a new mission is released, that has the old mission's starting level as it's starting level)

I believe they will start around 10am PST.

TRIBBLE, I was going to stay up to get them before ESD was crammed full of people and lagging.

Making the STF's easier is a big mistake.
