Forum Interface : Drop down menu for QUICK LINKS

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
Just a small/trivial issue with the forum interface.

I am not sure if I'm the only one that gets this, but its been bugging me since I first joined.

When you click on the "QUICK LINKS" menu, the drop-down menu appears to the right of the screen. It's easy to loose the selection focus when trying to click an item in the list. It should appear below the Menu item.

Here is a screen shot to illustrate

Thats is all :p

    Hey thanks for a response.

It only appears to be happening when I have the browser maximized?
Weird little bug. In a windowed mode it works fine.

I use Chrome, and tried Firefox and IE - same issue.

Its happening on all the drop down menus btw

This happens to me at work with Firefox, although it happens with the "Thread Tools" and "Search this thread" menus (never used quick links). My work monitor is MUCH wider than home, so maybe that's the issue? I use Chrome at home.

That's always happened to me using IE 9. I haven't had the issue with Firefox or, oddly, IE 8. Running IE 9 in Compatibility Mode does not appear to help.

It looks like it's probably an issue with how the forums' CSS Style sheets are interacting with IE9- but that wouldn't explain for the guy getting it on other browsers. The fact that it's not happening to me on my giant widescreen is interesting too- it obviously isn't a universal thing, but since it's not limited to just one browser I'm not really certain what it could be.

    *Checks in IE9*

That's odd. the text in those drop-downs is blurry in my IE9. And they're really slow to drop down. No problem in Firefox. So I think it's gotta be something in the style sheets.

It's been doing this since the game launched, I posted a small blurb about it almost 2 years ago here

Also still doing it with IE9, and I haven't checked lately with Firefox 9...

I have it with Chrome (looks like the screenshot), In Firefox and Ie it appears even further to the right. bit surprised it's styled using tables as opposed to unordered lists, I'm guesing thats a Vbullitin limitation though.

It's position seems to be related to the browser width, if you sale your browser window it's position is not onsistant, The Searh dropdown does it as well sometimes.

ad a quik look at the CSS but ouldn't see the issue, might look at it over the weekend to see if I an spot it, sine this has been annoying me for a while too!

I think its a bit early to move over to Xenforo, since it's only been an offical release since last November, persoanlly I'd like to see how it pans out. Also I'd be weary of moving an entire forum, more so an MMO forum, to a new forum software. Remember, Xenforo isn't a VBulitin upgrade, its an entirely different piece of software (that just happens to of been developed by some exVbullitn devs).

You can see on these 3 screenshots that the position is dependant on the window width ....

    One

    Two

    Three

    No biggie

Took a look at it today and figured out how to fix it.

In the Embedded Styles CSS, the div #wrap needs changing from position:relative to position:inherit, hopefully one of the web team can make this literal 5 second fix for this over 2 year problem ;-)
