is there a Klingon version coming today or soon?

regardless of the general opinion, you don't want more Fed favoring on your plate already, trust me ;)

This is to help them take on the Klingon empire?
The pack is incomplete with a white flag, sorry.

interesting, can't say I'm not surprised by this given that klingons already start off with some uncommon gear *snickers* I see the uncommon boffs are female lol.

My question is, is it unlocked for every character you make, or is it just for 1 character?

C-store purchases are traditionally account unlocks, as far as I know.

This appears to be per character of course...

I am now taking DIlitium bets on how long before we see flavored Endgame packs...:D

for ships yes. for the others, it varies

example, the various pets you can get? those are per-character

I can't see why it would make more sense to buy this than, say, a Caitian you can sell for enough to buy all of those things and more.

I see no reason why anyone should buy this, a waste of money.

As there is at least a theoretical chance that geeks can have a romance with a human female I consider her a "meh" BOff.

But put an ORION GIRL in the package and we have a deal!

For an Alt, the Starter Pack is of no value, as you can Purchase on the Exchange, (or Craft,) better starting equipment and BOs that can be Emailed to an Alt...

But for a virgin newbie, without the resources of an existing character, this can be very useful indeed...

While I appreciate the idea, the bloody UI window on the web page with the details is crappily too small and doesn't resize when the browser window is expanded. Please make your web team fix this asap.

Because those that are new to the game won't know about that. They won't really have a handle on the exchange, how to sell things, what the currency is, how much these items go for on the exchange, where the vendors are, etc etc.

It's just much more convenient (and profitable for Cryptic), to spend the points, get your stuff, go pew pew.

I think the target customer would be someone who has no idea what the value of the items in the starter pack are =P

Might as well throw in half a million latinum then. It sounds like a big number. There's nothing game breaking that can be done with it. At least that adds a convenience not readily available and maybe gets new people interested in DOffs and Dabo.

I'd want to get a klingon version if it came with stuff that leveled up with you like maybe a new really cool bat'leth that at LG is good as good as the ones we can get or could get in the past.

That is VERY Very true, but the C-store price is too High... 100 Cpoints, but bind on pickup is what the contents should be. to avoid flooding the market with green items. if they included a Set of star ship items, Resilient Shields DIS, Positron deflector, and Impulse engines Turn, with perhaps one Quantum torpedo, and two pahser beam arrays Acc then It would be Well worth the 240 C-points.

But all that would need to be bound on pickup.

A 'nicer' way to say this is that the target consumer is someone who hasn't gotten their feet wet in the exchange and all and just wants to avoid scrounging for gear at the starting levels.

This is a perfect example of 'pay for convenience'. Sure, experienced players can get a better deal, but they most likely can just go ahead and mail themselves low-level gear. This is meant for those who don't have the advantage of knowing all the game's ins and outs or having fleetmates to give them stuff.

In summary, it's not trying to dupe new players as much as give them the convenience of not having to figure out the tribal knowledge in order to start out the game with some decent gear. I'm sure the early scrounging can be a turn-off for gamers who would rather start off with enough to just have fun, and it's good that they have the ability to pay if they so choose.

Well, I'm sure people will buy it, but I can't see why anyone should buy it. You can literally dump a fraction of that amount of C points into the Dilithium exchange and use it to buy better equipment. Or do any number of things that would prove to be FAR more useful in the long run.

Bad deal is bad, but that has never stopped anyone before, I guess.

I find it very interesting that only 3 non lifers have commented on this. Personally, I don't care, hell, i might get it for the title.

The XP boost is 120CP; so arguably all the other stuff is 120CP. Still not especially appealing to anyone but the newest of the new, but then again it is a Starter Pack.

Now, we just have to wait for the Federation Retirement Package. (Now with Admiral McCoy costume and emote.)

Let them make money off F2P people! Stop complaining!

They need money to run the game, and I rather F2P people pay for little things than us non-F2P getting ripped in another 'winter package' fiasco.

Oh, this wont stop another grab bag. We've already been told more are going to come. That is completely unrelated to this.

I think there's a huge difference between either/or and both/and. Or, put another way, pay for a .9% chance of winning.

This is get a bunch of semi-reasonable stuff that can make PvE a tad easier.

I can't get worked up about this. Now the "Summer fun super pack" that has a .01% chance of winning a Sphere, that will cheese me off a tad.

    edited to clean up grammar.

That's the part that surprised me. I would have expected something like this to have some more tiny items that would make it desirable to the "gotta catch em all" type of STO player who needs everything regardless of its in game value.

From what I can tell the only unique item to this pack is the title. But really that title might as well say "Chump" since if you wear it everyone will know you're an easy mark.

    Don't give them any ideas.

Also, is the title account wide or character only?

Upon a painstakingly in-depth review, I have concluded that this Federation Starter Pack is only of use to starting players, and only for the Federation side, as new KDF toons start beyond the rank of Lieutenant (or Warrior).

Cryptic, in the future, please name these packages more clearly. Perhaps something along the lines of Federation Starter Pack Useful for Giving a New Player a Leg Up but not Oriented Towards Experienced Federation Players or Klingon Players as KDF Characters Start Gameplay at Levels Beyond the Usefulness of Items Provided in this Package Deal.
