Part of this is game play and part of this is the feel of the game.
In the shows, the tricorder and scans provided a great deal of information.
In the game, they provide much too little.
When doing a scan, all I get is a direction indicated. I have no idea what it is indicating. Many times it is showing me where anomalies are- and I don't care- I am looking for things specific to the mission.
Similarly, maps of Federation outposts do not have what the rooms are listed. This information would be at my fingertips, if I was a character in the universe. In an instant I should be able to find everyone's office. On my ship, or logged in with security clearance- I should know the position of everyone- and who they are- in Federation facilities & vessels.
I understand that time & game play realities place constraints on these things, but the maps are so vague and the scans so useless as to make what should be easy search & locate missions long frustrating experiences.
Even a modest increase in information provided on maps and in tricorder scans would be a great improvement.
BTW- I love this game. This, and more free uniform options (esp. for Klingon faction), are my only real substantive complains.
i think so too. the maps are almost useles inside for me many icons for trades and the like dont show up until i stand infront of one. ir would be nice ro scan for things by choice. like seperate scan functions for mission targets, anomalys, goods and so on.
Totally agreed. Maps in places like starbases should be MUCH more informative, like the maps in shopping malls and office buildings. These aren't hostile zones. We should be able to see every important NPC and what they provide.
Since I don't want to clutter the map, I'd suggest just extending the "reveal distance" to infinity on these maps, and have both the name and function pop up when we mouse over them.

even in sector space the V should point the direction of your current mission. (in lieu that you can set a course directly to your mission)
