Yea, I liked it. Back when I started a year ago SB24 space and ground were about the only two things I could get to pop with other people for PvE. It was fun.
SB 24 was my first FA ever wat back when STO released and it gave is a ealy preview of how STFs work, with a ground + space part, all connected through the same plotline. ABSOLUTELY AMAZINGLY EPIC Fleet Action!!!! It was hard and you had to figure out how to control your Boffs to take out each group of enemies, grp by brp, oroom by room. Sooo fun!
in a way im kinda glad its gone, it did tend to drag out what was is at its core a decent little 15 min fun fire fight with a reasonably decent green/blue reward at the end
the ground mission did tend to drag on and added very little. as a pure space beased lunch break blast its perfect as is
Believe you are referring to the space Starbase 24 Mission.
We are petitioning for the return of the ground Starbase 24 Mission PvE.
This Ground Mission is no longer available !
Hi. You are correct, I was referring to that. It was my understanding that if you queued for the main fleet action the ground part was still available. I didn't know it had been dropped completely. Personally i don't miss it. Once i had done it for the quest line ( in the past ) I always skipped it after as an annoyance.
How about making a Klingun Mini-STF from Starbase 24? It's got all it needs! An epic space battle with lots and lots of tiny, bigger and huge ships. It's got a nice ground invasion with hoards of Klingun warriors storming the decks of Starbase 24. I would do it, even if I couldn't get any marks or whatever currency STF's need now. I'd just do it for the daily fun.
Starbase 24 was the best mission in the entire game. Then Season 4 came along a put a PvE Queue in front of it, gating access to the space part and completely fubaring access to the ground part. It would be nice if all this was fixed!
Logged in last night to attempt to play Starbase 24. With all the new F2P players, the PvE queue system actually worked! Was quite happy with STO for the first time since Season 4 launched. Was having so much fun, I lost several hours of sleep.
I pray the accessibility to Starbase 24 that I experienced last night continues long term. It really is the best mission in the game, and what makes me want to log in and play. I hope the ground portion becomes accessible soon too, but when the ground part does come back online I would like that we be able to queue up for it separately instead of the ground part taking place after the space part is done. Back in the day, most people left the instance after the space part was done leaving those that wanted to stay for the ground short handed or alone.

I don't recall it like that at all. Perhaps it's my memory but I recall that after the space action you could fly on to do the ground mission but that ground part was instanced and single-player only. It has been two years nearly though since i played it.
The problem with SB24 in the past was that admirals came in to farm blue gear. Back then the rewards did not scale and neither did the damage count so you had no chance of getting top of the list or for getting gear for your ship at the appropriate level.
Now it's much better, purples drop for the top player and both damage rated and rewards are scaled to level.

Way, way back when SB24 was not level banded by rank, yes, having the admirals come in to farm gear was a problem. But even after the level banding was put in place, there was no auto-teaming upon entering SB24. So if you never teamed up with anyone, when you entered the ground portion, you most likely ended up by yourself. And even if you did team up, your team mates would most likely bail on you when the space part was done and you'd still end up alone in the ground portion. Plus there was the issue that you didn't have to wait for the space part to be done, in others words, you could leave the space part and enter the ground part at any time by clicking "accept" on the popup dialog that would appear upon entering beam-down range of the SB for the first time. Most of the time this popup would occur while in space combat. It was very annoying to accidentally click "accept" in the middle of combat, especially if you were "winning" the space part. Anyway, the point of all this is, everyone almost always ended up alone in the ground part of SB24.

To add a little more spice & fun to it: The optional ground part could be a new daily, and reward the player with a little dilithium.

This. SB24 ground first though, the newer players will have access to it first at lower levels, and it'll be a good introduction for them.
